Great feedback from all. This makes sense to me now.

I'm running a 256 MB card on my K Jam. However all I have is about 40 MP3's.

I guess because I recycle my music so much I have not had the need.

Will a 2 MB card slow down the way my apps open up or is this a myth?

i think MS DUO PROs use FAT16 as their file system, which means it could have capacities up to 2GB only as stated in this article from microsoft about formatting a memory stick using FAT32 and in this table that summarizes the different types of FAT. i think they've used another file system on PRO DUOs that have more than 2GB...

i myself am dieing to buy this 8gb , but somthing tells me its going to cost a hell of alot of money.

I Myself think ipods are not worth the money , $300 Australian for a 2gb nano. My Dad bought a 2gb MP3 player for about $150,it may not have a big screen and may not say "apple" on it , but it works fine.

At this very moment i have a 1GB memory stick in my K750i , And i want more. I was actualy going to buy the 2GB next week until i found out about the 4 and 8gb.

I have about 250MB's left. Mostly music.

You've got it all wrong. FAT16 has a 2GB limit, FAT32 has a 2 Terabyte limit, somehow I think that's enough for any memory cards I know about.

Duo (or any memory stick) uses the FAT file system, including either FAT16 or FAT32. Obviously, if you have a 4GB memory stick, you will need to use FAT32. Windows will automatically format using FAT32 on partitions bigger than 2GB.

SE claim W700 supports up to 4GB (the current largest available memory). So I'm assuming this follows for K750, and W800 as well. And no doubt the 8GB when it comes out also.

the prices of the larger cards keeps me from even thinking about buying one. a few hundred bucks just so i can listen to a few dozen of favorite tracks on my phone then when i get a real important phone call my battery dies out? its like paying for expensive cigarettes and getting cancer to boot!

If you only listen to a few dozen tracks then how do you have a problem with your battery dying? The W800 and K750 can play music for 15 hours on a full charge (that's about 250 songs - more than a few). If you run it for 7.5 hours, you will still have a half charged battery, giving you atleast a FULL DAY to receive phone calls before you have to recharge the phone.

I use the music player regularly, for up to 2-3 hours a day, and I've never had my phone die when I needed to use it. I recharge the phone mostly every night, occasionally every 2nd night (pretty much standard fare for a picture phone).

If you are going to offer advice, atleast try and base it on real experience and not assumptions.

I can understand that type of memory running multiple apps and programs on a PPC phone. However why would someone need over 2 gigs on a non PDA phone, or better yet even 2 gigs?

I don't get it. Some please enlighten me. Is it to avoid carrying an I pod ?

You got it in one,
I nearly got caught with the Ipod scam, then I sat down and thought about how many songs I would actualy listen to, how portable I wanted my music to be, how much freedom I wanted in choosing the source of my music, and did I really want an expensive over hyped single function device with lots of known problems?
Nah I spent around £50 on a 2GIG duo pro for my P910i and have never regreted it unlike all my Ipod owning mates are gutted they did not do the same I dont miss any calls when listening to my music they miss all theirs and still only fill a fraction of their massive Ipod drives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot.

Ebay is the answer I just bought two spare batterys and a charger that charges my phone and one spare battery all for £9.99 including post! and it all works like dream the batterys are only 70's but they are nice and small to carry. I can go days without a recharge now if needed.
