hey all

I am just chipping my 2 cents worth in ...

I was at 3GSM in 2001 and they were showing the phone off then - finished casing and all, on Microsoft's stand, demo-ing the sync features. They had a phone on a table with a powerful magnifier and a huge screen above so we could all see.

Having said that, I suspect that was more a case of PDA shoehorned into the Stinger case, because as with many manufacturers, the phones they show off at shows, have limited functionality, and the finished thing bears no resemblance to it.

Bearing in mind Z100 is getting Smartphone 2002, and the other PDAphones have had Pocket PC2002 ( or similar ), then I suspect they might be spending all their time trying to get that code to run and not fall over - the XDA for example got panned for it's phone features when released, and Microsofts probably keen not to repeat that.

Should be an interesting phone when it is released, I am sure it has been something like 2 years since first shown off !

Sendo are the manufacturers, but it does run MS firmware.

I waited ages, got no response from their sales dept and so gave up and bought a 7650. Then (about a week later) they came back to me and said "sorry, should be out very soon - carphone warehouse have it as 'coming soon'"

Since then.... nothing. Carphone warehouse don't have it, and I think I read somewhere that it would be out in Hong Kong first (maybe the end of this year)

I dunno. I still like the idea (even without BT built-in - you can get a module) but when will the launch the bl00dy thing?

I actually remember the first windows CE handhelds, they had their reset buttons hidden in the battery compartment. It had to be resetted often, and it was a pain to access the button.

Then version 2.0 came out, with an impovement! Not that the OS became more stable, but device manufacturers moved the reset buttons from the covered battery compartment to a more accessible place on the back side of the machine.

Version 2.11 - even more improvement: the reset button is now part of the keyboard (see a HP Jornada 680 or 720!)

I think Microsoft OS for phones is just a joke. I can imagine seeing blue screens when I'm trying to answer an important call...

Yeah, right! I don't believe a word Sendo say anymore.

About 2 months ago they told me carphone warehouse had them on their UK site as "coming soon"... see if you can find it - it aint there!

The SPV looks OK though, not quite a nice as the Sendo IMHO, but if they actually release the thing I will be having a look.

I've been thinking about the new MS software for phones, and I know it may have bugs and teh such, but I feel its a step in teh right direction! We are finally starting to get more useful and standard features.

When I glance at my phones screen I want to see all the info. Like time, signal, battery, email, sms, mms, appointments, notes. I know something similar can be set up on the Samsung T100, so when u open the phone the stuff is there for u. But on my T68, all I have is a clock (which i know many of you hate), and if you press a button to get rid of the clock, the display is still not too informative!

I say mobile phones start to get a common interface, where we can install ourselves, making them more like pocket pc's.
