Here's a little instruction on how to make a M2 memory stick
-Get a Memory Stick Duo
-Grab a pair of scissors
-Cut the end off you memory card
Now you've got a M2 memory card for nothing!

Did you actually try it? lol

How does the memory look like that's in the phone? Just wondered if you could replace it with a better one your self, so do you think you could if you did some good wiring put a good size memory card inside your phone as a phone memory plus have another memory card so you can have double size memory?

I guess it probably would cause some problems with the firmware?

@Quixotic115, where do you get the 2GB from in the first place? thats not "cheap"

Mobile phones internal memory is a different technology than the chip in the DUO...

the 1gb and 2gb cards are slightly thicker than the 512mb cards......

no i didnt take apart the 1 or 2gb cards, im not insane!
i only took this card apart cos they wouldnt replace it, and it didnt work.....so its just a dead duo

You cant replace the memorychip inside your phone... 1) the firmware doesn't know that you replaced it and therefore cant use the extra memory. 2) it's soldered to the mainboard... impossibly small solderings.. you can never replace it by hand!

Hey peacemf,

Could you've put it back together if you wanted do you think?
Seems a bit weird that the card is almost twice the sice of the chip!

yes you can put it back together, but depends on how you removed it in the first place, not sure if it will all stick together after opening.....

for the hassle or purchasing a compatible memory chip, finding a talented enough guy to unsolder the old & resolder the new one on & on top of that finding something to tweek the firmware so it recognises the fact it has more memory - would probably cost a hell of alot more then buying a new phone.

Give it up - not gonna happen
