as an Arab (and a Muslim) I deal with racism quite alot, all I can say is that they're ignorant and if they dont want to have an open mind then it's their fault.
Finally, I still wear my anti-racism bands

agree, I think words and deeds are more important than wearing bands, especially if you aren't 14 years old at the time these bands were a fad!! I'm 38, somehow I don't think it would go down well with my peers.
But I've never spoken a racist comment to anyone. I was bought up as a hippy in the 70's, and I was subjected to cultural discrimination so I'm aware of what it's like to be treated as different and sub-human.
But the funny things is, the kids at school who teased me, once they got to know me some of them became my best friends. So understanding works both ways. I could have hated them forever, and they would never have learned tolerance and I would never have gained such good friends.

I once read somewhere..."Everyones a stranger until you get to know them"..very wise words indeed, and i kind of remember that now always...Black,white,Asian,..does it make any difference really?..its the difference in languages, culture, religion that make us different,..to make it sound simple...All these races i mentioned are runnng on different operating systems..but in the end we all do the same thing.,Operate!!

@ max - I agree completly with what your saying, also bit off topic but wasnt it the 60's where hippies were around in force?
also I dont think the bands have any real age group who wore them, lots of its target audience was footballers to combat alot of the racism that went on during games
and at axxxr (spelt right) - thats a interesting way of putting it, I agreee with the meaning, but the phrasing operate seems to cold for most humans, but prehaps im just being odd... But I think your right there are no differences in us apart from out idologies and cultures that we come from, but certainly the way we look should have no effect on the way we are trated as a human being.

Racism is everywhere. Not only between Black and White people, but also in our own community, today a woman said to me that i was a wannabe white girl and a a s s kisser from the white people. But racism cant be banned from This world its a part from us people, and how much we try to change it. It will never stop... |

Luke perhaps Operate is a cold word, but what i meant by it is that we as humans as races all do the same thing just on different wavelengths..does that make sense?.or i am still talking jibberish?..i usually do after ive had a few drinks this late..but anyway, its like we don't try hard enough to see past the various cultures we come across,we only judge by what we see rather than try to understand and learn about that person. And that goes for all cultures,i reckon Blacks,Asians,Whites all need to look at themselves and try to understand more rather than judge, their in lies the problem i think?..We all have this superiority chip in us sometimes telling us we are better than X,Y & Z...Things are getting better though fortunately but their are hurdles in the way such as Religion which is a major factor of segregation of races,..we can never erradicate religion,i personally wish that we could,it would solve 90% of the worlds problems..We just need to find that common ground which is the hard part.
