@floke
It depends on ur gprs settings. Your service provider may be blocking the secure ports used by gmail. Do you see any proxy configuration in ur gprs settings ? if so u may not be able to access gmail. |

I tried it on t39 which support wap over GPRS but it didnt work.
Then I tested with the wap browser on my palm and it didn't work either.
On k700 it did work though. |

@shyam: Definitely time for a new phone.
@mario2002: As we all know SE's pre-K750 have problems with Gmail POP3 access due to SSL and TLS security issues.

I can't get on the site, not with the built-in browser and not with Opera mini. Apparently it does not work in all countries. How is that possible?
It looks so good, I'd like to use it. Have to use yahoo's mail instead... |

I tried it again yesterday and now it works. My provider (Mobistar) regularly updates 'things' on their network and it appears that now they did what was necessary...
Gmail on wap is very good. Amazing what they produce on the little screen, in the typical clean Google layout.
In fact it is so good it can't possibly match any built-in browser, just like the gmail is superior to most e-mailclients. And if you set it as the homepage you have access to your gmail at the touch of a button. It loads very fast.
Note 1: when first accessing the site, my brower kept asking for ok to continue at every new page because he could not verify the validity of the server; after one session it stopped;
Note 2: you stay logged in to your gmail account, ever after you have closed the browser; so when you go back to the site you arrive at you mail imediately. Very nice. |
