I can see the value in the O2 deal. But you will still have to pay £10 per month for that.
£8 per month on Telecom Plus + 150mins of talk time = £20
Have you ever run out of minutes on your phone when you need or want them most?
With the Telecom Plus Tarif you never run out of credit. and its equal to the O2 deal. |

O2 Home Bolt Ons
O2 Home 100 - 100 anyone, anytime minutes each month from home - to UK fixed lines and all UK network mobiles £9.99 per month
This is the copy from the O2 site, if you divide £9.99 by 100 it gives you 9.9ppm so its .01 short of 10p.
The other £10 you have spent is being used at a rate of 25-30ppm, so you are not getting real value for money.
In fact Vodaphone have the highest tarrif at 40ppm.
Anyway have a look for yourself:

Ok, how much is the £10 top up giving you in ppm calls? Before you pay £10 for the bolt-on.
Because your bolt-on is giving you 9.9ppm, so its 1.9ppm more expensive than Telecom Plus.
Just for your interest, you have paid £10 for the top up+£10 for the bolt-on so you have spent £20.
I have just looked at the O2 deal. You have to top up every month by £10 so you are paying 10ppm.
See for yourself:

Greggy wins, exept the 100 are like 100 counters, every counter is used up by a text or a minute of calling.

Ok, whatever!
You have just said that you have spent £10 for your 100 free minutes and then £7.99 for your extra 50. I dont know about anyone else but that adds up to £17.99 of my money any day.
So for £18 you can get 150 mins of call time free!
So you have PAID and then you get what you have PAID for!
150/18=8.33 Thanks for that.
But you will have to remember to top up your phone where as mine is on direct debit, If you have a problem, you have to ring an 0870 number, mine is free (0800). I also get £50 back at the end of the year because I also use other services.
But, yes you are right, O2 seem to have a great package there! If you want PAYG.
In the end, I guess it really doesn't matter, if you want to have to top up, then thats the one for you. I want to pay by direct debit without worrying about running out of credit, just like my orange contract. |

o2 have the best deal! also you are never really ever far from topping up. You can do it by many easy ways, by text message, atms, calling o2 and paying by debit and credit cards, at most shops, and finally online too. o2 make it very easy to top up. you get a balance after each call so you should always know when your credit is low. o2 all the way to the top with great deals!

yeah, the cheapness of you phone deals just boils down to how you use your phone, Personaly i like the o2 online contract because they give me a 'free' phone every year and loads of text, unlimited gprs, and a good few call minutes and it works out cheaper for me, as i dont like to pay for a phone in one large lump, contract way i just have it spread out over the year... |

It depends on what type of phone user you are. If your a businessman and spend around 120pounds a month on pay as you go and you can get around the same value for a 40 pound contract then to the Businessman that is going to look very cheap and to you it is going to look ridiculously expensive. If a user who hardly uses their phone goes for a £40 pound a month contract then i would agree with you otherwise the correct answer would depend entirely upon the consumers phone usage and how much they value the phone they are getting.
Thanks. |
