Hardware and build of hardware underneath cover are 112% identical, including joystickmechanism. There are no differences at all. Only design of the actual joystick differs slightly with the color and the orange dot on the W800, but its only exterior difference, the joystick mechanism are exactly the same. To say there are differences in quality would be like saying an orange shirtbutton works better than a black shirtbutton.

I wouldn't say the S700i has comparable joystick to the K750i or W800i, it has more of a rocker pad/thumbpad, and it really is the best design ever!! Infact IMO the S700i is probably the best made in a long while - real sturdy

Hmmm...yup true! I really like the way that thing works on the likes of the s700,w550 etc. Sad that due to size constraints we most probably wouldnt get to see it on non-swivel se phones.

Question:

If joystick breaks down under warranty coverage... does SE repairs / changes it?

And after warranty? Anyone's experience? How much does it cost?

Tak!

As far as my experience goes the joystick never really breaks down ie break down in terms of some hardware developing faults.....it just gets clogged with muck and so stops responding. A quick clean at se service centre or by yourself(if you're comfortable opening the phone) gets it working like new.
In warranty its all free and out of warranty they're just gonna charge you the service charge for opening the phone.

PS: if you somehow actually manage to break your joystick in the actual sense of the word then out of warranty its gonna cost you service charge + cost of replacement...........within warranty period its still all free.
Better do all the the breaking you wanna do while the phone is still in warranty period mate

The K750 has TERRIBLE quality control!!!

My phone i got the other day creaks when you turn it on, creaks when you use the camera, joystick, etc. The joystick is shit, the camera slidey thing doesnt work properly, the battery cover is quite loose.

Im getting rid of it once and for all. [addsig]

THE w800I Is a lil bit more special to the K750i (sorry to all you K750 owners) but its a fact - its teh same phone with walkman feature - so how can anyone justify that it has not got something over the K750? come on peeps - grow up... its a fact!

Everyone buys the phone they want!

what is walkman feature ?

It is:

Different design with walkman branding
Extra accessories - bigger memstick, different headset and adaptor
Different mediaplayer in firmware

None of this makes any major difference. Its still exactly the same hardware.

But the thread wasnt really about if one was more special or not.
If you feel your W800 is very special compared to a K750 then fine by me

The thread was about if the buildquality differs between the K750 or the W800, which they dont.

I agree with vanquish, that the general qualitycontrol from S//E on these K750/W800 are simply not good enough. Thats what it boils down too.

You may find very good build of both or very poor build of both, and you should only find good build of both.

Between myself, my wife and my kid I have 2 very good build K750, 1 very poor build W800 and 1 very good build W800. All bought the same place, so why is the single W800 of these four so poorly build. Poor qualitycontrol.

just unlucky i guess

They are practically the same and it pretty simple - if my joystick went (W800i) i would take it and get it fixed - if it repeatedly happened - i'd change handsets, simple as that. i love both the K750 and W800 (for dif reasons alike) didnt mean to sound like the w800 was special, sorry Numb. As ive stated before tho, the W800 is myfirst ever SE phone and my god, SE p#@s's all over every other manufacturer out there - round of applause for SE me thinks!

I fully agree - I also love my S//E's, even with their flaws, personally Ive never had troublesome S//E phones, and Ive had many, (except for the creaking theres nothing else wrong with my W800)
It just saddens me when others get a poorer experience than myself, and I wish qualitycontroll would be prioritized a bit at S//E so that others may be as fortunate with their phones as I have been
