MS Duo corruption problem with R1N035 |

@arnarn911,
I started with a completely blank card (formatted in windows) and just tried to move a backup I made back onto the card. At first sight I were successful moving all files, but after disconnecting the USB cable there were quite a lot of folders gone inside the MP3 folder.

I bought an USB Card Reader/Writer today and it works to use disc2phone to write to the the mp3 folder on the stick. The w800 can use the files and none has yet disapperad. That's my workaround in wait of the new firmware...

Using card reader, it works fine even without using disc2phone..
I hope somebody gets a workaround for this bug. I don't wanna take out MS DUO everytime I transfer my MP3's. so much annoying... |

transfering with bluetooth although slower has no problem copying.
maybe thats it maybe someone can devise a way to slow down cable so that it doesnt cause corruption, more testing needed!!!

hmm, I hope all you guys with problems aren't using cards reformatted to double the listed capacity If you are maybe that's why it's stuffing up?
Otherwise I guess it does look like a firmware issue. I certainly won't be upgrading to R1N for the time being.
Maybe if peeps having problems could post the following info it will help determine the problem? :
1. what firmware version do you have?
2. Did the copying work fine prior to updating the firmware?
3. Did you flash the phone with the mem card in the phone?
4. Have you tried reformatting the card with the phone then doing a master reset?
5. Have you tried reflashing the phone without the mem card in, then reformatting the card with the phone?
The answers to these questions may show a pattern. The pattern should reveal whether the problem is with the firmware itself or with a problem related to updating (example having the card in the phone)

1.R1N035
2.Copying works with R1L
3.I flashed the firmware with card out
4.I formatted the card with the phone after the upgrade
5.Haven't tried reflashing the phone
6.I also did a master reseta all after the upgrade if that helps
*obviously a bug with R1N035 that needs to be fixed |

certainly does seem like a bug.
Sorry to ask for the info, but I've seen lot's of problems that seem like one thing but end up being another. Many peeps have claimed firmware problems with other firmware versions that just turned out to be computer or memory card problems.
It's also strange that it doesn't happen to EVERY R1N, for example I've never heard masseur complain about this problem, and I'd be surprised if he had found such a problem and not reported it hear somewhere....

I talked to an SE service point the other day. They have had several flashed w800 to R1N035 with this bug. The only way to fix it, according to the technician, is to flash it at a service point. Something goes wrong when using the "personal" SEUS I was told. |

I would flash it back, but those guys from the service point charge 20€ for flashing it once... thats to much I think... I cant be bothered to do that...
my brother has a W800i with the old firmware and he doesnt have the problem, his 512 works fine, even a reformated 512 into a 1024 works fine with his phone without any data corruption and so on...

it's a worry. R1N0035 was removed for a while, has anyone tried the newest R1N0035? |

Well, I tried format stick and master reset (K750i R1N035 EU2, 1 GB stick). Does not make any difference (apart from the pain in the ass to restore all settings, ringtones, themes, contacts etc...).
Copying about 300MB on the stick via phone/USB cable seems to work, the files are accessable (i.e. for playing) from the PC via USB link. But the K750i file manager and the playlist lists only the first 10 files, nothing more. But I found a work around: Switch off the phone, take out the stick, switch on, and the put in the stick. Voila! all files on the stick are now accessable from the phone too. Seems that the file manager is buggy in R1N035.
Nevertheless, I am still worrying that it might again crash the stick while storing a photo, that happened already once. |

Surely there must be a way that Sony can say to downgrade the firmware on the mobile. I havea call in with Sony now, so I shall see what they say.
