Gawin : The places I've seen were it says something about Imelody, is usually the same places, were it says MMS-software.

Thats why my guess was, that Imelody only will work, once we get the new software in the phone (should be week 10).

As I wrote earlier, I dont know for sure, as I havent read the manual on Imelody yet. I know how to make emelodies work, but havent tried imelody out yet.

On the other hand,..if Imelody should work with other Ericsson phones,..then it should work with T-68 too.

I wish someone in here could answer the question for sure.

Guess we should ask about it

Hi.

I am ust posting a reply by one of the b.board members at Ericsson Mobility word Forums. Here is his reply about how to send ems to the phone:

There is a couple of ways to get an EMS to the phone:

* the real way: send the EMS to a gateway which sends it to a phonecompanys SMSC (SMS-Center). That ships it through the air to your phone. You need some good contacts to a phonecompany and a lot of time to get a gateway up and running.

* use a datacable to talk to the modem in your phone. I think that Siemens has made a device called M20 where you can type in hex and post it to your phone. You could also talk to the modem via a datacable and a hyperterminal. You'll have to switch to binary mode and write to the phones memory.

* Do the same but by infrared.

* Do the same but by BlueTooth.

I'm working on a toolkit for you guys so you can send EMS by serial cable, infrared & bluetooth right now. It will be done in a few weeks.

Best regards

Theis

God, I am using T39m. Is there any MMS upgrade for T39m? If no, then finish.

For the EMS Converter 1.1, I used notepad to save it as .EMY format and also .IMY format. It doesn't work after sent to my phone thru infrared.

.EMY file can be sent to my phone but nothing comes out whereas .IMY could not be sent, it prompts error message.

To those who were able to download the converter and for the benefit of those are wondering how to use the resulting information. The HEX output is the one that you need to use and you cannot just transfer it to the phone. You have to specify the EMS information via the TP-UDH (pp. 6, EMS developer's guide posted somewhere). Please note that an EMS message can have multiple text formatting, iMelody, Pictures, or animation.

Hehe, sorry, May i know what is TP-UDH and pp.6? All i know is I got the file .hx1 with codes inside but what do i need to do with that as to make it works.

Please bear with me, I really wish to make this work on my phone. Now seems like the EMS converter 1.1 is like a junk to me...just stating the fact, no hard feeling please..

TP-UDH = Transfer Protocol User Data Header. In standard SMS this contains the text message. In EMS, the first bytes (to a maximum of 128) contains the EMS header which contains Information Elements (IE) to describe the EMS message. For example, to play the built-in EMS sound, we need to send (in binary) 040B020003.

The EMS Converter is still useful for it allows conversion to HEX of RTTL and SmartLogo.

It is now available.

The Sony Ericsson EMS Converter 1.1 enables you to convert existing Nokia Smart Messaging logos and ringsignals (RTTL) into EMS formats, including iMelody for ringsignals. This provides a simple way to enable your existing content to EMS. The EMS Converter runs on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, or Windows 2000.
