One of the reasons I got the job I have now was based on my partisisation in this site. My boss even added a link to Esato on the front page of www.idgsm.no when I started in my new job. It can't hurt to mention Esato in an application for a mobile phone related job.

@whiz

The customer service staff at 3, especially the Indian staff, tend to come in for a rather hard time of it from 3's UK customers. I read an article not that long ago, which said that a lot of Indian call centre chaps were quitting their jobs because of the level of stress involved in dealing with American and British customers.

I don't want to put you off in any way, but I thought I should perhaps let you know. I really do hope you get the job and that you do well old boy.

Whiz you know how important education is. Ask yourself one thing- do you want to keep on dealing with mobile phone problems for the rest of your life? If not then atleast try and get a job which involves other soft skills such as programming, networking etc etc. Or you study for an mba or mca. Hey, this is india brother. Getting a good stable job is a very difficult thing here. Think.

Thanks scotty! i'm aware of the fact... But if i'm not mistaken, they also have an email correspondence department..(not sure about this!) if yes, my first choice would be the email related cc thing...also, i don't think my spoken english is as good as written... Accent, pronounciation et al.. Gotta do some polish work in that department. In the meantime can you folks check out this url and lemme know what you think? www.3 globalservices.com

@blue, true indeed! But i'd rather do something i love to do all my life rather than something i "have" to do. Also, if nothing works out, i have a lil resort in my native state of kerala which i could take care of!

Hey Whizz, why not come and sit in on some of my English classes then? For the past 15 years I've been taking kids with English as their 2nd or 3rd language and transforming them into 1st language speakers. Correction- i've been ATTEMPTING to do the above, it doesn't always go according to plan You'll do well, though, and i'm positive the job is yours. Good luck, mate.

Right class, settle down. Now, Whizz, will you repeat after me... Hotel... Herbs... Opera... Ah, there lies the first error... Mispronunciation/inclusion/exclusion of the letter H. :-) I taught English at an Indian school for a few years as well, and that was one of the most common errors...

ahh finally, someone in customer service who will know about phones... im my view, customer service is like chewing on broken glass, only 100 times less fun (thanks to ctrlaltdel-online.com for that pun )
Good luck, and of course mention it, because im sure youve helped some people out, which is what you (should) do in customer service, so youve had experience

I have been involved in recruitment , training and operations in the BPO sector... I think it MAY make some difference as an extra curricular interest...but i dont think anyone would hire you purely because of your interest in a mobile phone forum... Take a shot at 3 though...you never know..afaik 3 in mumbai, only hires for voice based functions...not chat or email support

I think you should also consult govi, he had tried talking bout this , but they didn't hire him coz of his participation in forums, but because of other core skillsets.

Fair enough! But surely having "some" sort of experience with 3g and also my interaction with some 3 consumers here would be an added advantage imho. Also, govi is in to some pc related stuff if i'm not mistaken...which is totally different from what we use this forum to discuss.. What say? Me gotta study for tomorrow now....
