Bluetooth Disabled By SimCard !!! |

There is a slight chance of interference (if you're unlucky), the U.K. and some other countries may be okay with Bluetooth and 802.11b but the faster Wi-Fi 802.11a uses a higher band that requires legistation to free it up as it is used by the military and emergency services in some of these other countries.
We all have our legistative problems with wireless...

I am having the same problem - However I tested the simcard with T39 as well and in the 39 there is no problem - the same happens regardsless of the network - I can operate BT everywhere with my voicestream SIM (USA) but not with Orange IL SIM.
Orange people say there is nothing in their SIM to block operation.
I think it is in the firmware ! the same happens with Cellcom SIM - I think country code 972 disables BT on this terminals.
I will have my terminals software downgraded next time I am in the US. and let you know. |

SonyBoy - Try to do the following just to make sure it is not the SIM card.
Put in your UK sim - turn the unit on.
turn it off - put in an old Orange SIM card (not the SIMple model)
turn it on - is it still disabled - if so try the same trick with pelephone SIM (issued for roaming - actually vodaphone network prefered by this Sims) and Cellcom Sims .
If all fail - then I think it is a firmware thing and in this case - I will downgrage firmware soon..

In this case I think we need to hack the firmware.
or more simple to make Sony Ericsson do that.
I will adress them soon.
Blue toth functionality wont go beyong - Connect - Bluetooth (grayed out) choosing it will resault in "currently unavailable" message

I talked to Dani ! (Sony Ericsson Israel )
Only in few montes, (after the government will approve BT is legal), they will have a newer firmware version for the t68i which will enable BT back. As so - The T68I wich has an old version is BT enabled anyway. So its only us who has the newest firmware version for now, are stucked in the middle....

OK - I am going to sell mine and get the new Nokia.
They did change the firmaware in order to get license to sell the model in Israel.
Spread the word - Ericsson are disabling the BT functionality on the terminal for Israeli sim cards - there is no reason to buy Ericsson in Israel !!
I am switching to the new Nokia and going to recommend everybody in Israel to keep away from Ericsson. (there is no way this people are going to learn how to give decent value for money ever)
As I understand the headset is working fine with other phones.
So I will loose on the Ericsson mistake about 300$ - it is expensive lesson - but expensive lessons are not forgotten easily.
Till next time - Buy Nokia !! |

A few answers, I bought my t68i in the US a few months ago, the firmware is R2A014. I have traveled to Israel many times and used a sim card of Orange (partner) my bluetooth works fine. I have spoke with Danny from SE Israel and if the software is upgraded (the only reason you would want to upgrade now is to get hebrew on it) than bluetooth is disabled the moment a sim card is put in to the phone, so for those who were wondering this is a FIRMWARE issue. What is interesting that if you have a t68m and take it to Danny who will upgrade it to t68i it doesn't lose the bluetooth... in my opinion it will be many months (at least till January) before they put a newer firmware out that does not disable the bluetooth. Therefore you can either sell the phone, wait or downgrade your version to R2A014... if you like I could send you the firmware bin file and you can downgrade it yourself with the Ericsson unlock utiltity.

Kaaspad- I bought mine in London UK. the version is the last one. I have no hebrew either.
Rokoko - Me too ! Im selling my ericsson, I want nothing to do with them.
they made it to get a license to sell in Israel, and screwed us !
I switched my t68i with a guy who had t68, so blue tooth is enabked now. ( and had to add him some money to convince him that Im not taking advantage of him). anyway I will sell it.
I think I'll get me a new model of Motorola, with a flip, BT, colors screen, and polyphonic rings. (which I guess will mean built in Hands Free).
And by the way - Sony had the Z700 which had it all, but canceld the production !!! (!!!!) I think because of a threat from Ericsson about cancelling the partnership.
