hi well we at o2 got the phone in stock yesterday to go on sale today and i was playing around with it a bit. Having a k750i i have to say that i wasn't unimpressed but just not impressed with the phone. As far as the no branding goes it seems every bit as branded as my k750i ie o2 theme start up and shut down. The phone itself looks wise may take some getting used to, the 'white' colour seems to have a tint of green in it (may not suit all). Sony were kind enough to send the store a quality set of headphones though so we can demo the music capability of the phone. Also on start up thing are quite slow due to the fact it asks you whether you want to start phone or music only mode. Also the short cut key on the k750 seems to have more practical use than the walkman key on the w800i, mainly because it seems a waste of the music button at the side of the phone. But all in all its still a great phone, not so much an upgrade from the k750i but more of a re modelling.

This can easily be turned on/off via: Settings | General | Start-up menu

i got it off orange yesterday, you have to go to a shop and for it to be free you need to take out a £55 contract, a £30 contract results in £60 for the phone.

was a bit disappointed by this fact but i still bought it as i was so excited its amazing and worth every penny

Hmm £60 eh? Well I hope I can bend their arm a little through the retention department - After all O2 are offering it for £30...

Dammit they gotta tempt me with something Im not gonna get a better deal than my Select 500.

O2 offering it for £30 on even the £19/m contract is far too tempting...

Shame they won't give me a contract.

Just got my new W800 from Orange on Saturday. I was originally going to go for the K750 on Orange until I saw how heavily Orange branded the menu icons are, they look nothing like the official SE menu icons, they look completely different, orange, flat, boring. And if you look very carefully at one of the icons its a graphic of a Nokia 3220, weird considering its a SE phone.

The W800 from Orange is virtually unbranded, no Orange logo on the casing, the menu icons are all the official SE menu icons, except when you highlight the phone/world icon, the title at the top of the screen says 'Orange World' even though the icon itself is the original SE icon. As far as I can tell, there are no features that have been removed from the W800. Orange did with my previous K700 by removing the shortcuts feature grrrr, but the W800 escapes unscathed. The only bit of Orange branding I noticed is the Startup and Shutdown screens, but thats expected. Even the packaging and User Guide manual is unbranded by Orange. Even though the Orange W800 is virtually unbranded, it is locked, which is standard on all Orange phones anyway, but thats fine with me.
