@SIR-Sonyericsson-man
W600i that was also announced today in same pressrelease will have quadband and EDGE. Designwise its same as W550.
@gregface
W600a and possibly S600 has been ditched and replaced by W600i, a quadband phone with edge.
From the pressrelease
n addition the W600a Walkman phone for the Americas that was announced on June 13 in New York as a Tri-Band/Edge product will now become the W600i for global distribution as a Quad-Band/Edge phone (850/900/1800/1900). The product will start shipping in the Americas from early Q4. |

EDGE is simply a technology that is up to 3 times faster than GPRS
its limited at that.
its also dependant on netowork support. in the UK Orange was the only network to really support it and it seems to have given up now and gone for 3G

Let SE define the word "cheap" -the k750 was cheap but SE never announced it to be so, rather they said it was something affordable.. then i'm assuming this cute fone would be less than the price of a k750?

@Bart
In the pressrelease it says
In addition the W600a Walkman phone for the Americas that was announced on June 13 in New York as a Tri-Band/Edge product will now become the W600i for global distribution as a Quad-Band/Edge phone (850/900/1800/1900). The product will start shipping in the Americas from early Q4.
Meaning it will be sold globally with start in Americas first.
