Its not purple, thats the screen. Sony jabbing back at one of the most complained about aspects of their devices this year; poor viewing angles. Look how quickly they managed to get a higher IP rating and even removed the flap for the 3.5mm jack from the Z to the ZU, as was another consistent complaint, which is probably a much quicker solution to implement (vs a screen halfway through a production run). I think this is something they have looked at closely and can finally bring justice to the brands they have labelled these devices with. I hope theres a 64-128GB 'ZL' version.. |

^interesting take on it. but why would the screen show purple like that? and why only for a portion of the "screen" and not the entire length of what would be the screen? Not saying you're wrong. I don't think we can know for sure at this point. just raising questions
I think it's a valid interpretation though. Based on the location of the powerbutton, it would be the front of the device that is "lit up", which would not be purple. So, it makes sense that it's the screen.

Actually its the back plate. Unlike the Z, only the back plate is purple or white. The sides are metallic silver and the front black monolithic glass. |

but why would they tease a shot of it upside down? isn't the power button on the right side? which would mean the phone is upside down in the picture..

They are highlighting the side. Flip over the phone and you will have the power key on the right. |

which makes it upside down if the back is showing.
top of the phone is toward the left in that pic, while the bottom of the phone is to the right.

Well no, the camera button is on the bottom of the phone when it's in portrait mode so it seems to be the right way up to me.
If this phone is to be officially announced in Berlin (Europe) then am I right to presume that it won't be released in Asia first? Like Z-Ultra?

you can make out the flap outline on the right portion of the picture. |

Yes the flap is towards the back of the phone and not the screen and as you can see in the teaser pic the flap outline is clearly visible so its not the screen but the back of the device |

Wow our first teaser pic, just one question though how do we know it is genuine and not fan made?
I'm so happy 'cause today I've found my friends ... They're in my head
