Except screen, u11+ humiliates s8 in any aspect.
Better photos, better videos, faster performance, faster updates and better audio.
It is not helping.
Bezel has nothing to do with sales..

Ya bezels may not be everything
But have u seen complaints about other aspects of sony.
Actually there are some other aspects for sony to improve on.
Xperia z1,z2,z3,z4 all had very similar design.
Samsung s5 and iphone 5s had fingerprint sensors which released with z2.
Z3 didnt have fps, z4 didn't have fps. Sony fans waited till z5 for fps to arrive.
I think sony should revamp its design and focus more on marketing. Put on a telephoto lens and improve on low light photography.
And people comparing sony with lg don't forget about the bootloop issues on g4, lgv10 and v20.
I am currently using a v10 and its quite frustrating. That affected lg sales to a great extent. |

Xperia are criticized everywhere for having extra large bezels. Bezeless design does not guarantee sales but having extra large ones when there are so many options with smaller bezels will guarantee lower sales. I can say for myself that the reason I skipped XZ Premium and XZ1 was the extra large bezels. Similarly there are many more people who would prefer smaller bezels...
Whoever like large bezels, good luck finding a good phone in near future having large bezels...

Does anyone here have a detail about DAC chip inside adapter of the model that doesn't have 3.5mm connection ?

Make it worse when Sony can't do properly business in major markets like China (national dispute relationship) and American (carriers supports), European market used to Sony's stronghold in last two years got flood of Chinese makers Huawei, take away minor players marketshare combined.
Also advertising, everyone keep blame this on Samsung and Apple, it is partially true but LG, HTC also try to catch up in advertising scene and yes you have look where they going now when financial reports keep loss after loss in every quarter that it more to concern while Sony keep shrinking business but floating ahead of loss.
Samsung has keep spent about 10x more than Apple in advertising scene each year to be where they are now, How many Sony need to burn?
Let's see how Sony Mobile "Breakthrough Year" will unfold....

Motorola never get bashed by bezel.
Look at moto g1 and moto g5, the front are pretty similar.
Sales are still strong in whole America.
Iphone 6, 6s, 7 and 8 are the same.. All sell well.
If s8 was exactly like s7, but just new cpu/gpu sales would be same.
The regular costumer go to any store, there is for example L2 and J5 both same price.
Which one the person would pick?
Best example : S4 x Z S4 sold 80 million units. How about Z?
S4 was cheap plastic, not waterproof, small battery, midrange cpu ( SD600) , old touchwiz
Logo of Samsung and Apple can do the job. No matter what the phone offers.
That is why Sony focus on earning money per unit. They know sales cant be bigger like 25, 30 or 40 mi units.
They should also focus on making more deals like the one with French Police.
This can bring good money.

You need to be in the game if you want any chance of winning and only the XZ Premium was in the game. It speaks volumes that the XZ1 Compact flopped hard because it is nearly a dream phone yet the design and 32GB memory was enough to kill it despite having flagship specs and also being so much cheaper than the top phones. Marketing helps of course but the Compact has always been adored by reviewers so it can only be one of a couple of things that made it fail. I really wanted one myself but it looks like a doggy poo next to even low end phones. |

JPEG is certainly the most popular format but not the best as there's a fair amount of compression applied to each shot, TIFF format is lossless and is better for post processing and editing so I wonder if Sony maybe going down that route.
