If that keyboard is in any way real, then I'm dissapointed. The M600/P1 style is a lot more useful, in that width and form factor. I'd rather have either that, or a full width qwerty dropping down from the side.

To me, the P5 is starting to look a bit ordinary.

And me, opposite to Boinng,
would like to have a normal qwerty, not P1 style. I love P990 keyb.!
Anyway, if PK posted that he's informed about his proto back in January,
that's obvious there'll be no announcement this year

I'm with @doministry on this one, the P1 style keyboard doesn't do it for me. I'm also reluctant that without a flip, using this device as a phone only (or single handed use) will be more difficult than P990.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

@PeterKay

Thanks goodness for that, or is just me that thinks a keyboard with keys that small would be a nightmare full qwerty or not that would really suck IMO if they were that size and not very practical at all for typing anything.

It also looks to me like this would have the P910's problem, of being impossible to hold and type - since you'd be clinging on to the little slide down keyboard while all weight of the phone was still at the top...

@PeterKay...

is the front layout of P5i very close to Maria, I mean a d-pad with 6 keys ?

and is there any keys above the screen just like K800i ? these top screen keys are very good for gaming, and I know Symbians are powerfull in games !!

So, not to put too fine a point on it, for all intents and purposes the P5 we've all been discussing and looking at here is scrapped? None of us will ever see it hit the market, regardless?

Makes you wonder when SE will ever sort themselves out. Their smartphone range needs a massive shot in the arm, and it needs it now - not in six months.

I don't worry so much.
I think they're still smart to do a good move.
BtW this keyboard discussion is endless s maybe just leave it, since some of us pray the P1 style as ergonomic,
and others as backward step in compare to P990 or even P910 (as for me).
Of course that P1 style keyb. was done for some reasons, not because of a sick designer's dream.
I would like to have a SEPARATE key for a letter what is most logical system, and don't tell me that two letters on one key is MORE logical.
But I absolutely believe that this M600/P1 solution may be much more useful for many, as with any other system.
I hate it compared to P990.
So in my case Pnext should be really strong in all fields to convince me to buy it, if it has this keyb.
But I personally doubt it will have this kind of solution .
Probably the new design will differ vastly.

The best thing they could do is to make two different keyboards and let the customer decide which keboard he/she wants, if the customer want to change the keyboard he just walks in to a service-center and 5 mins later he has his old phone with another keyboard.
Brilliant, isn't it?

(one keyboard like P1-style and one full-qwerty (?) )
