I would rather have better black levels than a brighter display.
Both displays are way to bright

Gooooodness me that's way too bright and washed out a display like that would drive me nuts, how have Sony managed to screw up a display with over 400ppi so badly with ALL the tech that is around these days??? Mind blowing, they actually managed to properly mess it up, this is the sort of mistake you'd expect back in the days of resistive displays.
Why is it so hard for them to make a decent screen, I remember my SE Xperia X10 and Xperia Arc/Arc S had brilliant displays, great brightness, natural colors, extremely crisp, and smooth text, and then came Xperia S and that's where it all went downhill.
Do Sony make their own displays or is it a 3rd party? Maybe they switched to a cheaper supplier after splitting from Ericsson?

On a seperate note, last year alot of Sony LCD tv's were recalled due to poor displays. They all had light leakage Xperia S & T displays were nice but this is horrid

I don't understand why people are saying Screen is bad, like you all use your smartphone at 100% Brightness, get a grip.
Yes the screen does look washed out @ 100% brightness and we all are still wondering and trying to find clues how is it really happening. Even @ XDA, there people who still claim it's the best display around and there's a video too on viewing angles which shows it's really good at.
We still don't know the cause of it but it does look washed out at 100%. We do expect a solution but it does not make a huge deal to you and anybody in this world cause nobody uses their smartphone at 100% brightness so stop the panic button for god sake!

I generally use 50%, but know many people who use full 100% brightness. When I use my phone for navigation I use 100% brightness.

I am using about 30% on my Xperia S but at 100% the blacks are still as black as at 30%. |

@Sean I've never met anyone using smartphone at 100%. How long your battery stays up at 100% all day?

Yep. Using my new Lumia 620 at 100% full brightness with usage all day my battery easily lasts all day. And this is a 1,300mAh battery Truth that is,the Windows phone 8 batteries are very good. I HATE having a dim display. I have always used 100% brightness & got through a day. A HD display uses alot more battery

Anyone who cares about how much their battery lasts won't have the screen at 100%all the time. In bright sunlight yes. Normally no. It doesn't make sense.

Guys, do you think Sony is aware now with z display issue?
I hope they can calibrate/correct the issue thru fw upgrade...

That's what my point is. I don't see any sense using smartphone at 100% brightness.
@Sean I really have no clue about Lumia 620 but I'll look upon
