i've had dedicated ppl working for days on the apple forum, helping me solve this or that... apple discussions is always my first port of call when things go wrong (which isn't that often luckily!)

ive just got a new 24" iMac. everything works fine apart from the bluetooth. If i try and send anything from my phone to the iMac, the bluetooth icon changes to this...(to show somethings connecting )
but then says "sending failed" on the phone. Ive tried with various phones all with the same result. But if i try to send something from my iMac or browse a device from my mac , it works fine.
any ideas? |

Have you paired them beforehand or did you just have :bt: turned on on the phone?
It may sound like a stupid question but i had this problem with my p1i i think, congrats on the purchase.

yeah ive tried both pairing and not pairing it (as im sure with my macbook pro i dont need to pair beforehand)
and all i can get to work is file browsing and sending from the mac to the phone.
ill give it another go when i get in, other than that its awesome. 24" is great!!! |

I can remember how I fixed it before, but if you go to system preferences, sharing, bluetooth sharing, when receiving items change it to accept and save to test.

Glad it worked, few things you might want to also try out.

I can't for the life of me get my contacts onto my Motorola V3, it has been paired, entered the passkey from my iMac and that worked no problem, added it in iSync, version 3.0.2 and it is showing up, the phone is discoverable and connected via USB.
In iSync it is checked to add all contacts, some are just numbers, some have email addresses and addresses associated with them, i only have 54 contacts so it isn't alot. It syncs ok but when i check the phones phonebook nothing is there, or sometimes it's just a couple of email addresses.
I've used both the official USB cable and a third party one and have tried different USB ports, also disconnected and turned the phone off and on again. Looking in bluetooth system preferences it is showing as;
It says not connected but it is paired and discoverable, the only time the dot was green was when i first entered the passkey given by my iMac after that it went red and has stayed that way, not sure what to try now.
Update
After selecting to browse device under bluetooth in the menu bar it is showing as connected in bluetooth preferences now, however it still won't add my contacts?
Any ideas?

Backup the phone, reformat it , delete any pairings then install onsync pair the phone make sure it matches with everything in address book after the sync. The try isync again.
