which one do you guys reccomend black or silver
Last black phone I had was during the Ericsson days. W995 is my first black SE since I felt all black coloured SE phones looked dull before. Not anymore, I feel that my black W995 stands out in the crowd. But this is very subjective and it boils down to your preference at the end of the day
Anyway, I'm so proud of my baby for winning the EISA Awards 2009-2010 No way it could've won using anything less than HPM-88 with its preset equalizers The Panel must've listened to it with HPM-88 using my equalizer settings Well rightly so, W995 sounds absolutely fabulous to my ears

My W800i sounds much better then my W995i and it's volume is 30% higher then the W995i

Are you sure?
Is it not a case of the more volume the better for you?
I can attest to the fact that this phone does sound brilliant, I concur that this is overall the best walkman phone, heck, the best feature phone by SE in a very long time.
And now the reports suggest that Aino is even better! It means Sony has really worked on the sound quality part and SE is once again at the forefront in the music department. Pity about their overall phones.
Congratulations to them on this one, well deserved in my opinion.

@pt020
are you saying the because the volume is louder and maybe because the w800 has more bass?
if you think volume and bass are the only 2 things that determine (good) SQ then you are oh so wrong!
the w995 is MORE than loud enough. having your music too loud via earphones can actually cause hearing damage in the long run. and the bass, well the bass is, again, more than enough. And its definately a lot clearer/smoother than what the w800 was...

I say leave him. He had this same complaint before and we haven't solved it. I still say your phone is faulty. |

I have to disagree. My wife uses her W800 up to this day and it is no doubt a legend but even my P990 beats it at sound quality with HPM-70 (W800 is still supreme in terms of volume which I don't really value anymore though). If the presets don't tickle your fancy you just need to learn to customize your own equalizer settings, tailor it to your needs, that's the beauty of it. And I'm sure you'll change your mind with HPM-88 plugged into your W995

I am listening to my Walkmans with my Bose headphones that for me are good enough, there is nothing wrong with my W995i it is just not good enough!
had many phones and i know how to use them and adjust the sound, just bought my self another W800i and it also has better sound then the W995i ... not only the bass is stronger (mode....use your equlaizer next time) but also its power is much higher even my p1i has more power .
i wish that i could let you all listen with me you will change your mind like all my friends did.
cable or bluetooth

Hello,
Unbranded my new Orange w995 last night on davinci with R1FA035.
All works like a charm, but have couple of questions.
When slider is down, why does it not action a KeyLock? so you cannot accidently press any keys like searhc / media / select
Seems very weird to me.
Also, what is the point of the metal u-bend thing at the top?
Does it have GPS builtin or do i need an accessory like you did with the W8901? which i never did manage to find |

The metal u-bend thing is the kickstand. It holds your phone up so you can watch videos on it horizontally. Did you not get the manual with it?

The u-bend thing is a kickstand and yes it has wifi. Go to connectivity to find the settings. |

@oioldman
When the slider is closed it does act as keylock but only while you're at the standby screen or in Walkman.
The metal thing on the top rear is a kickstand which acts as a support while you watch your videos in landscape view so that you have a good angle while viewing it from, say, a table top
*edit*
Oops goldenface, you beat me to it

cheers, guys. yeah i got the lovely orange manual wit hit, but to be honets not yet looked at it...
is gps different to wifi then?
i thought one sed radio connection to the satellites and wifi for your random waste time on internet stuff!
keylock, so no then it doesn't lock things like, search / media / select
i have to open and close the slider to actually perform a full keylock?!?!? -> rubbish in my opinion
[edit]
sorry folks,
found the lock setting i needed ->
settings | general | security | automatic keylock
But, can you change the half-moon shortcuts that are by default, Media & Search?
