You can download games, music, videos etc to the hard drive.

ok, what does the harddrive store? apart from game saves ?
Game demo's, Videos, other downloadable contents such as game reviews, full episode of south park in HD (if it's still available), can download arcade games, can even download full xbox games.
Have to pay for some of that though.

I need to do that!
When I've got my 360 on the 42 incher there's no connection to XBL and I don't have £60 to blow on an adapter! I can't work out how to do ICS on Vista, need to find a tutorial!

I am on XP. I just created a new network by going to network setup wizard. In that I told the computer that other computers connected through mine and it worked within a minute.

Bill Gates' Ultimate Guide to Internet Connection Sharing on Vista
Do all that first, then plug the XBox in and fiddle with it's connection settings on the XBox's 'System' tab.
Ignore the fact that the diagram on the M$ page shows a network hub, it's the same if you plug the Xbox directly into the computer's ethernet port.
And it does work too. I've done it successfully several times in the past , contrary to what some forums would have you believe...
EDIT:
Oh yeah, you might need to enable media centre in Vista too, if I remember correctly
EDIT (again):
Although a cheap router would be much easier...

I shall look into that Thomas, but Cyco has it all down here now, so I'll do that first when I can.
And it's because there's no wiring for internet near the telly. There's no phone sockets or RJ45s there. Wireless is the only option and Microsoft can stick that £60 adapter up there ar$eh0les!
