I've read the ongoing discussion with regards how useless the P990 currently is because of memory problems with some amusement. I must say that's never been a problem for me. Maybe because I previously had a P900 I just automatically got into the habit of shutting a program down when I finished with it - the only option on the P900. That combined with Swiss Manager Pro and my mobile works perfectly.

My problem is that as a business user the P990 is lacking on two major points. The first is the ability to print Word documents. QuickOffice lost that when it went to v.3 so I stayed with v.2 on my P900.

Whilst I can just about live without that, the lack of a database program turns my P990 into just another toy. I've struggled on for about three months, switching between the two phones, hoping a database program would come out but apparantly HandyDatabank is well down the priority chain.

So the P990 is going up on the toy shelf and it's back to the P900 and the real world.

I agree with you - personally I've not had any problems with the P990. It's shut down an app or restarted once or twice, but that's all. Overall I think it's an excellent phone.

Sorry to hear about all the problems you guys seem to be having, but it's not my experience at all - try using the Task Manager to close down apps as you finish with them - this certainly speeds up handset performance.

The memory problem in my case is evident only in multitasking environment or to be more precise after a day or two of heavy usage cause it will cause memory leakage. At that point one have to restart the phone in order to regain multitasking capacity or some apps will be automatically closed by task manager during multitasking. Otherwise no bugs, no any problems or just to say a fantastic phone. I too would like a decent database app, but when it comes to office (document to go) I finally can do some serious job with P990 whilst with P910 it was more for a bragging::)

The new firmware is already on EMMA server of Sony Ericsson :

Organizer: R4A13
Phone: R9EA001
Bluetooth: R5A01

The realising date was week 48, but it was canceled for improving.
If you are close to someone at Sony Ericsson Service Point he can update your phone BUT the update is still NOT for the public users.

Anyone tried to update using SEUS? Or will it take another week or two?

Edit: Not for public users yet. We have to wait.

@MG7:
If we're still talking about early January then wouldn't it be three or four weeks? (Probably more.)

Projekt has an "import from text" module, which would probably save your retyping, if you can export from your existing database to a simple text...
