I just tried a few tests, etaab, and it does focus the same amount of time wether i press halfway and then all the way, or just press down fast. If it would normally take a long time to try and autofocus, it still does that even after pressing down all the way.

When i do it, it takes about 1 second for the camera to focus and then take the shot.

You can tell when you've used AF because the onscreen box turns green, the little green "Go" spot appears and the phone beeps.

If you dont see the box turn green, the green "Go" spot appear and the phone double beep then it hasnt autofocused.

Dont confuse the phone using autofocus with simply taking a second or two to take the snap. If your phone beeps and it turns green, then you're not pressing the shutter key fast or hard enough to skip AF.

Macro Shot

Crap shot but it goes with the other one.

A question too, why is it that people obscure their car's number plates?!?, what is it that you think that people would want to do with your plate number?. Surely more people see your plate number in a one days travel than would ever see it on here.

Privacy. There is actually a site on the internet that provides some basic details about who the car is registered to.

Not only that, some thieves could quite easily clone your cars details using a picture. Not very likely to happen, but its better to be safe..

I have to agree the box does not turn green, as it does when i do the halfway move with the shutter key. However it does still try to autofocus a bit. I think you were right, though. It does arrive at the picture saving part a bit faster.
