wow 2009 sounds great, but I am starting to want a new phone, my k610 is almost a year old and I usally replace my phone after a year, so 2009 is quite a long time to wait. I will probly get the c905 and it will do me till end of 2009. Then well who knows... maybe 1080p video res, that would be cool |

you're trying to find problems where they are not. doesn't impress you? you're right - it won't make the dinner, it won't clean the flat, it won't go for a walk with the dog. it's just a phone... oh, what a shame...
many people don't care about additional features, they need phone with standard features, camera and sometimes mp3 player. it doesn't have Symbian but do you know why? most people with phones based on Symbian doesn't know about potential of this OS. they don't care about this, they need phone, sometimes camera and mp3 player. most people don't need Symbian, like my grandma don't need BMW M7 either
You guys make it seem as if S60 is such a difficult UI that you have to be computer programmer or coder to use it. Your "grandma" can use an N82 as easily as any SE A100/A200 phone. And for those advanced users, Symbian has unlimited possibilities. Symbian is as user friendly as any other java based phone out there.
The C905 doesn't do anything for me. I guess it takes more than a High MP count to impress me. I'm waiting for the Nokia S60 Touch flagship phone! *drools
PS: I'm sure if given the choice, your grandma would pick an "M7" over a similarly priced Honda.

S60 indeed is not that complicated (I'm using an S60 device myself), but it does seem that some people would like just a simple feature phone. A100/A200 menus are easy to browse through. |

I agree.
But anyways, why are we talking about symbian? This is C905's thread.

you didn't understand... do you know why "my grandma don't need BMW M7"? not because it's too much complicated car for her - none of my words was about this. in fact S60 is quite simple to use
she don't need features of this car because it doesn't care about nothing else than "start from point A and go to point B". do you understand analogy? you can buy Nokia N95 8GB but what for if you don't need nothing more than Nokia 2600 features? believe or not but on this world are still many people which are using the phone for calls and sms only they are laughing from high-end gadgets
EDIT: do you want to know how my grandma looks like in BMW M7? like 10.2MP sensor in 1/2.3" dimension

You got it all wrong in your analogy. It is not a matter of whether a BMW is suitable or not for your grandma.
It is a matter of your grandma being ask to choose a BMW (s60) or a civic (C905) when both are at around the same price. Yeah, your grandma may just need a car to get from point A to B at snail speed, but I think most people in this world ("those" exceptions excluded ) will say your grandma is a fool if she chose the civic and not the bmw.

@se_dude,
I'm sorry before, what is spoton? Did you mean spontaneous?
I hav heard that Micks has a friend that works as a project manager development in SE Dubai. Micks doesn't work at SE.
I can be wrong though. Could you confirm it, Micks?
As I know, SEMC Japan had already starting to develop 10MP phones since January 2008. But they only planned to release it exclusively for Japan, as Ericsson Sweden Management thougt that 10MP decision are too way ahead and it's better to make some warming-up introduction. Furthermore, C905 project already in half-baked stage, with lower unit costs. So they decide to release C905 as a warming-up. (How they could thought this way? That was I called "compromising something")
All I mentioned above was a company rough progress I know long time ago. Now Komiyama-san take a position, and I heard an instruction to accelerating the development of this 10MP phones, so it can be released in worldwide, ontime next year with a minimum bugs and flaw. As for now, 10MP sensor already finished in hardware (still unusable without camdriver lol), using CMOS matrix again.
I've been little dissappointed, but believe me, even the project manager doesn't hand the final decision, and they quite confuse how the final product would looks like. SE management could decide using CCD, so we can hope for that. About the extra feature it has, couldn't comment further. One of the R&D manager has made a suggestion memo to incorporating Bravia panel with OMAP Platform to C915. But no answer from a management yet. Still unclear.
@mib,
You're right, if BMW and Civic around a same price (assuming BMW is faster and looks more expensive), people would always buy the better one. But to be honest, we are not live in dreamy world. N95 (as BMW) and Nokia 2600 (as Civic) will never sold at the same price. A much better gadget is commonly deserved to be more expensive.
Raider just want to say that we could better to buy a gadget that fits our needs, and more importantly, our budgets. We don't need saving too much to buy N95 if we only make a call and sms. 2600 is a wise choice.
That trends happens in China. Nokia classic 1 and 2 series (with mono display) sells like a hot cakes, mainly because most of them only make a call and texting. That makes Nokia comes to glory. Have you ever seen SE phone with mono display nowadays?
That big low-end market in China most likely attract Komiyama, because low-end device has become one of SE priorities starting some months ago. SE also realize that they develop high-end that isn't not looks like high-end on paper. They started to change.

the same price for high-end and mid-end solution? well, it's nothing new that people want more in this situation. of course Symbian offers much more that e.g. A200 platform but does this means that I have to choose Symbian in this case? maybe I'm different than others but no, thanks. I will not choose Symbian phone because it have more features/potential which in fact I will not use at all. I don't like to eat more that I can swallow
before someone will say that I don't know what Symbian is... I worked for years as a software developer for mobile phones. I just can't watch at phones any more

Lot's of strange reply's here.
And regarding S60 or not... this is C905 topic, go elsewhere please!
I'll check C905 out, but i think it's to fat imo, W902 is a better balanced device, to me that is, i hardly ever use my GPS, and i'm used to sub 15 mm devices.
19mm (C905) will be to much imo.
