I flashed to R1L about 3 weeks ago, and my handset has been working fine, but yesterday I found that I cannot load the camera up at all. I'm not too happy to say the least. |

chances are you need to open it up and reconnect the connetcor.
i dont think cases of cameras breaking down are software related |

I'll have a squizz in a minute, have a few Torx drivers somewhere
On a seperate note, I can't seem to install the Update software on my rig, it just stays at the "Installing" screen. You think it might be scanning the hardware (K750 hardware that is) and coming up that the camera is disconnected, that's why it's hanging? |

I got a k750 a few months ago. Was workin fine. I then upgraded to R1L about a month ago and again no problems. This week though it has standby crashed bout ten times. Im not too happy and not sure what to do. |

it may be that this camera connector is a problem with some K750's. Atleast that's a workable problem - anything worse is likely to be a mainboard replacement.
Or it may be a furphy. There may also be a standby crashing problem with R1L (although it apparently fixes some of those crashing problems). |

Why is there a known problem with themes |

If the theme is not developed for your handset then you may have problems - I had exactly this with my K500i using a theme for the K700i.
Screen resolution, colours, graphics and processing etc may be different. |

The camera connector was incdeed disconnected, I had to take the entire bloody thing apart to get at the bugger. Ah well, at least I know how to do it now , got me a silver housing coming soon |

Post details of how to take apart here as several readers have problems with camera connector. |

I updated my one day old K750 online 8 hours after purchase. Being the first time i've used the online update service, I was a little nervous, but made sure all my bases were covered and followed every instruction to the letter.
I'm pleased to say it worked perfectly apart from a couple of little issues.
First the good:
1. Updated software from R1J002 to R1L002.
2. mediaplayer seems louder and clearer than R1J
3. Task button now clears screensaver (I seem to remember it didn't on R1J)
4. I had a problem on the previous software with contacts synchronising - it would only work from phone to pc, not the other way. This is now fixed (I tried a master reset before updating, but that didn't help, so decided to go the full hog and update).
5. Menu smoother
6. Saving photo to memory stick is heaps quicker
7. There is a dedicated mp3 folder created on the memory stick
8. The auto focus beep is a lot quieter
9. And the phone seems more stable than it was under R1J
10. And just found in this post by @AntonyScerri, the Camera shutter is muteable on EU_1 firmware only (not EU_3):

The Bad:
the memory stick was in the phone when I updated (SE didn't say anything about removing it). After the update the memory stick was unable to be read by the phone (although the mass storage driver in windows could read it fine) and had to be formatted before it could be used again by the phone.
Of course the Optus branding remains untouched. The online update doesn't touch the customisation file - I knew this anyway so wasn't disappointed
over the last 5 days the phone is still working fine (used so far: bluetooth, cable, calling, sms, camera (phew!), mediaplayer, menu)

When I get my silver cover, I'll take some pics of disassembly and reassembly, you will need a plastic shell removal tool or a really blunt, thin knife, a tiny cross head screw driver (for removing the camera cover) adna Torx T6 screwdriver. |

I have read this post very carefully, and i can't believe Ericsson expects it's customers to complete the 'final evaluation and testing' phase on their products! It's siimply unacceptable.
My K750i (R1L002) will not maintain a bluetooth relationship with any of 5 headset's i've tried it with, 4 of which are SE products! Even the simplest testing at the production level would have revealed this issue, so why the hell do i have to get lumbered with it?
I have tried the update service but it fails, providing the following message "Currently no service for devices belonging to your operator".
My phone was purchased "SIM free", and i am told by the UK support centre that there is a bug in the web update service preventing it from updating SIM Free phones.
Great!
I have bought Ericsson phones continuously for the past 10 years, but i'm really thinking twice about what i buy next! |
