Seems like SE got game once more.
Suddenly we all love Eldar here don't we.
Like I said over last couple years he doesn't really make stuff up sometimes can be a bit harsh on one point or another and obviously like any source dealing in speculation and unreleased devices sometimes he will get it wrong but on the whole his track record is pretty damn good.
He likes the new Halon cos it makes sense in my view, it's got good/great features properly implemented and an up to date OS and looks like (fingers X'd) it's going to be released in a timely fashion and as importantly at a price to feature ratio that makes it a very strong competitor. Also looks not bad (at least different to rest of Android me-too devices - actually quite like Moto Defy for same reasons).
Good luck SE looks like they've taken the lessons on board and have made a decent effort, now they stand some chance of progress - it will be tough of course with the massively increased competition in this area (if only they hadn't squandered 2006-2009 they really could have been on top, but nature of the beast you snooze you lose.). Quick last point the noises being made by the board about their past and recognition of where problems have occurred was very encouraging, to fix something first you have to acknowledge there is a problem (something Nokia are in denial about at the moment). Funnily enough in some ways this might be more comfortable ground for Sony as a Premium Wintel PC maker they must be familiar with glitzy hardware with a few software enhancements on top without having to manage the OS/UI something SE proved completely incapable of.

Well the Mobile-Review article is being given credence and is being quoted here giving it traction rather than the normal berating of Eldar and "what does he know he's always biased against SE". You should hear what the Nokia fanbois have to say about hi these days, well suffice to say he's probably not expecting Birthday Presents from AAS. |

Rather its like "he hates SE even its a pretty good device, when he likes it it must be super" |

Understood snoFlake
Some posters on here agree with him and some don't and some are indifferent, just like they are on other forums. Well may be a few more fanboys than most )
Regardless, it's a bit far fetched to imagine that fanboys of all persuasions will automatically fall to their knees and love Eldar again because of one positive preview of a prototype, wouldn't you think?

Has anyone even bothered checking that the preview wasn't even written by Eldar?

@NightBlade It is Eldar. No questions about that. And the initials ME and EM are not just a coincidence...

Now...it is hard to choose...
1. I like Arc for its design, nice shape, bigger screen, bravia engine, LED backlighting...... but mainly for the looks.
2. Hallon has front camera and cheaper price....
Is Hallon using LED backlighting ?

I really don't understand. How can these two devices be in completely different price brackets, yet they have exactly the same features, except one has a smaller screen plus a front camera? It doesn't take a genius to figure out Hallon is the better deal here. Isn't cannibalising their own product sales with closely overlapping products like these?

Why don't we all just wait and see what the market prices in the end are. maybe the price difference will only be 100Euros in the end, which would also make much more sense to me....
After the crazy leak fest which has been going on for the past months now I wonder if SE has anything at MWC which will surprise us (except the confirmation of specs). Suspect we will see the following devices:
Xperia Play (Plasystation phone)
Hallon
Mini Successor
Mini with Keyboard ???
Basically considering the leaks we have seen the announcement of these device is inevitable.
But I want something which has not been leaked....
Please SE gives a surprise |

Like Goldenface said, I dont think hallon have exmor and bravia. That would make NO sense at all. Our dear Eldar must have got that part wrong |

+1
I guess we will see all the 2011 phones with Bravia Engine no more regular TFT..
How much do u think a regular 8.1mp will cost against 8.1 Exmor ?? i dont think it will be very big difference. Am guessing This Hallon also Has Exmor.
More over Hallon has Front facing Cam[which is suppose to be better than others]
But we see such huge difference in COST this doesnt make sense..we are missing something..
In ARC forum I read that UK ARC will get 32GB Card + Mini HDMI cable in the BOX maybe cause of this there is cost difference + extra for the sexy Design..

When I look at the pictures with screen turned off it looks more like X10 one rather then Arcs one... not being that black, but that may be just from the pictures.
Also the back cover has two bulbs at the top and bottom edges which look kinda strange but apart from that this phone is a real beast and if the price range will be around 350euro it`s going to be bestseller for sure.
Damn this phone already make our choice tough between Hallon and Arc! |

The Arc's biggest competitor yet will be unveiled Feb 13th in Barcelona. (Flagship vs Flagship not hardware) Samsung Galaxy S2. It seems to have followed the same design philosophy as Arc Less than 9mm thick
4.3 inch high res Super AMOLED 2 screen. Ofcourse rest of it there is no comparison It will feature the most powerful dual core platform - Samsung Orion. Only the ST Ericsson U8500 equals it. Tegra 2/TI OMAP4/Snapdragon dual core are all inferior.
ITs got the MALI 400 QUAD CORE GPU
