to free up memory you could go for removing old texts, storing contacts on the memory card, storing all media files on the memory card, removing any removable pre-installed media, running fewer apps at a time, only turn on wi-fi/bluetooth when you need it (I keep my BT on but in invisability mode). These things should free working memory and storage memory (which is used for paging files) and processing power. I also tried removing all the media on my card, formatting and putting it back again to place everything back in a better structure but that didn't really make much difference to speed.

thanks for this, ricky d

Just hope it lasts as long as Aino does. I would rather buy MW600 instead of a new battery.

A while ago I had some problems with my Aino, particularly regarding the touchscreen. None of the touchscreen features would work and every time I slid my phone shut, the backlight would stay on, thus wearing out my battery.

So I booked it in for a repair with Sony Ericsson and they said to me that there was a hardware fault due to "resin in cracks" or something. This problem is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. So there was no way the would fix the problem even if I paid them some good money!!

I've got the phone back with me now. It works perfectly except the touchscreen - but it means that I cannot change any of the camera options which are STUPIDLY all touch enabled - why the hell you have to shut the slider to operate it, I will never know. But it still drives me mad

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do next? I really was having a great time with this phone, until this problem occurred

DanMan03, sorry to hear that dude

I had exactly the same problem as you, and ended up taking mine to the Service Center

They replaced a component in the display which fixed it at first, but it broke again a few hours after I picked it up

I then took it back again, and they replaced the entire top half of the phone as well as the buttons (they admitted they had no idea what the problem was) which actually fixed the phone and its bewen fine since then.

My phone however is in quite bad condition as opposed to how I bought it thanks to the Service Center crew... (the blue panel behind the display is bent and the butttons werent put on properly so they are slightly above where the keys are, causing mispresses and backlight leakage.)

Can't say I've been terribly impressed with SE considering it was my first phone from them

WAHHH! Too bad MW600 is not sold here in the Philippines. And I have to order it via eBay.

@ Danman. That's really bad. Without touch you cant even access the camera. I loose touch sometimes but resolve it with a restart. Would a new display solve your problem?

I did get in touch with SE when the problem first occurred, but they thought it was something else. It's really unfair that they aren't going to do anything about it. I have to stick with this phone for another 14 months unless I try and sell it to a phone stall somewhere. Also, you shouldn't be put off SE. I know this is your first phone from them, but I've used countless SE phones since 2004 and they've all been top-notch. It's just this unfortunate bugger. Should you get another phone from SE, I recommend you don't get a Symbian one.

When the problem first occurred, I gave switched it on and off. Then I took the battery out and waited a while, before putting it back in and giving it another go. Finally, I gave it a master reset then a software update - still no luck. I ran the service test thing - the only one I had an issue with was the Touch function

I'm going to try and live with it for the next week or two (on a trial basis) and leave the slider open (so that the backlight can go off). If after that, things are bad, stay tuned for an update! I've always had an issue with the Aino, ever since before getting it

You almost make me feel guilty for being happy with mine.
I still think SE should fix it for you.
