Couple of mates picked up the W960 yesterday from Vodafone. The only branding seems to be the start up screen, but we managed to convert one to GW1 in a hour with XS++ and SEUS

It could be on a 12 month contract but the price plan would only be 500 mins and 250 texts for £35! Stores can do this if you say you only want 12 months!
I have to say after playing with a w960 for an hour or so I would have got one for the 8gb, better camera and more ram (compared to my p990) but the build quality is so poor!!! The stylus is tacky plastic looking plus the horrible white band around the phone! Anyone agree???
And yes use XS++ to debrand the w960 if you get one

My W960 is one of - if not - the best phones I've had in terms of build quality. It's super with no creaking or anything like that.

The stylus isn't that excellent. There's really only one way to hold it.

Many using p1i are complaining to have squeaking problem.which is better build than w960i Mo .on other w960i is still plasticy do u think it will hold on few days use?I highly doubt not
And i saw ur w960i review,and the green tint is evident in w960i too, can u post more pictures taken with camera of w960i.
When do u think this problem will be fixed.As i See the price set for w960i is not just for walkman alone.It is said to be a multimedia phone,which should be capable of doing everything.Not just playing music

i went to cpw today and used this phone! i want one! it didnt come with bluetooth handsfree as i expected. they said that it can only be purchased on a monthly contract. no price on an offline unit as such yet. |

Squeaking problem? What? The build quality of the phone or the stylus? My W960 is as I've said really great in terms of build quality. Only the stylus that feels cheap.
Green tint problem is not serious and should be fixed in firmware update. I'll try to upload more samples.

hi, can u tell me what's GW1? sorry is it true that it's unlocked even when you bought it from vodafone? why did you have to unbrand it? |

I was also mighty impressed with the build quality & no squeaks. Was concerned about the white band but now I have the phone I think its one of the best I've had. I really love the design & look of it.
Just shows how opinions differ as I thought the P1i looked crap & lesser quality than the P910i/P990i I had.
I was dissapointed when I went from the P910i to P990i mostly due to memory issues but I'm impressed again with this UIQ3 device. Meets my needs, only better video recording support (640x480 30fps) would have been desirable from a faster processor & interface would have been quicker.
Great for music & the size/weight reduction over my P990i and sound volume & stability over BT stereo is much better than the P990i

My SIM free one from mobilefun which they said was UK spec is GW3
So suppose that is Generic World 3

I too had a play around with the W960i today and for a first time user of UIQ and i have to say i was a bit iffy about about the absence of a joypad as Scotsboyuk pointed out. Texting was strange with the whole jogdial, which is new to me, i did notice the lag as well and the touchscreen was not what i thought it would be when navigating with a finger. Still im gonna buy one though

going to get it today! Wooop! On O2 its 89.99 for the handset then £35 pounds a months with 600mins and 1000 txts. Not bad! |
