I very rarely use auto (and even then with a little EV tweaking), as it never seems to get the colors right. If it's not perfect sunlight (which it often isn't) then auto never gets it good enough for me, always gets it way too dark or overexposed in bright sunlight.
I usually end up taking a few shots of the same thing as I can never decide what to use. |

@ cloysterpete5 - i rarely use the EV too. More often than not i find it makes pictures either too dark, or too bright.

Did any of you UK user just watch BBC2? Never thought a programme on photography could actually be interesting. It was called BBC Four on BBC Two A Digital Image of Britain (well the North anyway) and they got three professional photgraphers to road test three camera's one was a £800 quid huge black thing (you know what I mean), the second a small mass market £150 thing and this Joe Cornish bloke got to use one of those 2MP Sharp camera phones!, they had to test it in rural, urban and industrial settings.
When I first switched it on he was stood on top of his van taking pics of this huge factory smoke chimney and he had the camera phone attached to this mammoth tripod, looked ridiculous lol. Then he headed to my Whitby!, he went into the Sutcliffe gallery and tried to replicate some of his classic black and white shots along the pier. He just ended up getting more and more peeved by the camera until he said "I'm going to throw this damn thing in the river before long". Two minutes later and it was over the railing!, it survived the 20 odd foot drop and impacted on the sand below. He really hated the camera though, his main problem was the 3 - 4 second shutter delay. He said "everythings changed for me in that time". His overall assesment was that until they resolve the lag time then camera phones have really limited applications.
*Groan* The program now on 2 is exploring Whitby's past, which they would give it a rest.

What settings are people using for indoor shots ? I've only managed a couple of fairly successful indoor shots & they were both on flourescent. Wasn't sure whether it should be incandescent or not. Haven't checked out pics using the flashlight nor the night mode. |

well testers should really start understanding that its a phone with a mobile cam, its not a proffesional digicam. Its not supposed to replace your expensive DSLR equipment when taking important pictures, its supposed to be handy and available for those sudden odd pictures you dont want to miss, those moments where you cellphone is all you have available. And its doing a damn fine job at that |

I can't get good indoor shots neither. This is the best shot I could get of my top bookshelf, tried about 7 or 8 pics all with different settings, only problem is I can't remember which setting proved best for night shots with standard room lighting as the shot was taken a while back.

2) If taking photos of motor racing should i bother getting the k750i to autofocus? |

1) Fine is naturally better than normal
2) It allways autofocus weather you wait for it or not, you cannot turn AF off. |

You have the option to not use AF though.
Simply point the camera and press the shutter key fully down instead of half way. The camera will take a picture of the whole scene without focusing first, instead of focusing mainly on the object in the box.
Taking pictures of fast moving objects is tough. If you dont use autofocus, the whole scene will be sharpened, but anything passing through would be blurred. If you used autofocus, you'd have to focus on a point on the race track where you'd like to take the picture of the car, and then fully press when the car is passing by. Of course theres no guarantee the car wont be blurred, but it will focus mainly on the car.
