Good news!!! adnhk got this in an email response from SE:

Quote:
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Call Center.

With regards to your inquiry, we would like to thank you for your understanding and patience with us . The R & D team have worked round the clock to provide solution for you . For the phone operating aspect ,"In certain conditions there is a small risk that the system runs out of memory. The next maintenance release MR2 (planned for the beginning of January) will have more available memory witch will minimize this risk. The current workaround, if this problem occurs, is to close some applications by the Task Manager" We will like to thank you for your support and understanding .

So this confirms the week 48 release was delayed to the beggining of 2007, but the better part is that they say the new release will give us more available memory!!! The "small risk" thing is funny though lol

I think more available memory + new version of opera + some other bugfixes will make the P990 improve ALOT

It was NOT planned, its was just rumours. Nobody from SE had said this, as nothing at all. But what i cant understand is how you can be so positiv? Are you sure you dont work for SE?

Lars Linstrom from SE confirmed the info to All About Symbian in the London Smartphone Show. Swedish SE managers confirmed the same to Jonah from My-symbian. Just a rumor then???

Ok, but how long do you think people should wait? Do you really think that january is the cure for the phone? Im not so sure... They should never had relesed the phone in this condition. Im not saying that i should sell of my phone, but i am not going to use it before next f/w. Its not useable as it is now. Im so tired of all the restart over and over, AND all the kernal error

@Tail, has i can see from esato, there are people with different experiences with the P990...i have R3B01 org firmware since September, and since i instaled it, made a internal drive format, and start using Swiss Manager (first freeware version, then pro), iīve got a pretty stable device, with very few hangs or restarts...but there are others, like you, that are having far worse experiences, and naturally are bound to have less capability to wait for the next release

I still find weird people having such differeces with the same firmware...i recommend all people that have frequent restarts to format internal drive, manual backup, reflash and use swiss manager pro...iīm sure that will make your phones to behave at least like mine, providing there are no hardware deffects

still SE is talking abt MR2(maintenance release) which means we customers will not have access to it & we have to wait much much longer as they cant give a date for a customer firmware release..

i hate SE now
