I completely agree. The GSMArena photographer produced far better results than the user pics floating around. I think he shows the maximum potential of the k800 which looks great!

However, I still want to see some closeups on, get this, ACTUAL PEOPLE and hopefully at night.

The features that are pushing me towards this cameraphone are autofocus and flash...waiting for more examples

what am i? chopliver? i posted pics from the k790i grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr lol

@dragonfly

Nono, I'm sorry! lol, I just mean to say that the board has been lambasting some of the photos without seeing the total potential.

I'm also looking into the k790 and I'm no camera expert. If you have it and have been tinkering around with it, could you give some impressions about its daily usability (on the camera side) in hustle/bustle situations?

Thanks a ton!

GSMArena's Review:

http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_k800-review-93.php

The review reports that image stabilizer is only available when video recording. Is this true?

THE GSMARENA REVIEWS PROTOTYPE OF K800I, IT'S NOT THE FINAL ONE. SO STOP JUDGING K800I BASED ON THIS REVIEW PLEASE.

@kristianm.

I can''t see them only deploying image stagilisation on the not very good vdeo recorder.

This is straight from the K800i website under the camera phone link:

Get rid of blur
Avoid blurry stills. Activate the image stabiliser function to get sharper still pictures. When you're recording video, use the video stabiliser to compensate for those small hand vibrations.

So it can be deployed in both stills and video mode.

Could anyone with both T300 and K800i/K790i post some size comparison pics? It would be interesting to see how different they will feel. Thanks!

(Komplett hasn't shipped my phone yet )

whether it is beta prototype...alpha prototype

if you manage to have the phone to come out with good picture

it show the hardware have no problem.

it is not easy in a product developement process to just simply change the hardware.

the guy who post the picture which caused all the whacking on k800 could have a phone which is out in market but somehow with buggy firmware.

it can also have high possibility that fella have a so so photography skill or the time/environment don't permit him to take excellent shot.

so...to me, lets wait more review to come out.

official reviewer do serious work to show potential of a phone.

normal user like us always jump into conclusion because we demand the best and only the best.

it is correct we have such demanding rights but lets be patient and don't immediately jump into conclusion the phone is bad.

remember tht if it is software..now you don't even need to bring the phone back for firmware upgrade as the OTA update service can be done thru the phone itself.

Hi, I've only just registered but been following the discussion for a while, thought it about time to put my penny's worth of thoughts in..

@admad, you have a point that the phone GSMarena reviewed was a development model, but I would have thought the hardware was final even if not the firmware by then, so the phone *should* be capable of pictures that quality surely? Whether the final version released this week is better or worse does indeed remain to be seen, but there's one way for us all to find out - wait a couple of weeks!

I've got a K750i, and I had it from when it was released last year - the camera was buggy, the phone crashed a lot, but within a month they'd fixed most of the problems. I can't wait for the K800i, it will have problems at first, but that's to be expected, I don't mind that. I won't be disappointed I'm sure, SE haven't let me down in the last 5 years I've been using the handsets Plus, you get 3G, and RSS - and I think it looks awesome!

Thanks for listening

What material is the phone in? I read in the review that the entire frontpanel is in brushed metal. Is this true? I would love that if it was. What about the silver line? Is it metal or plastic?

Unfair! I ordered mine about a week ago and it's still on "Släppts för plock". Dang.

It would be cool to see some pics taken by the phone btw! You guys who has already got the phone, why not post some pics in the K800i/K790a pic thread?

i give a very big thumb down for SE for keeping the ancient qcif format when recording video,i mean this is like cutting the very branch they sit on.they advertise much that k800 carries the cybershot brand but it isn't capable in recording even in cif format.bad move SE

The first day with my K800i

Sumary: Not Satisfied At All

The bad stuff first:

1 - Phone delivered without memory stick, as they where not in stock today.
(I partly blame SE, because its their properitary format, they shoud have them available at day 1)
2 - Charger dead on arrival. Lucky me that it is not the first phone thats using this format on the connector.
3 - Phone has booted several times when operating the camera. When playing with setting for the camera it just boots at random.
4 - Blitz control not up to the rest of the phones quality. I can manage to take completly white-out pictures. It just fires way with all it got, and i have to hold a finger over it to compensate.

The good things:

I have to go looking some more.

I hase a nice screen, fairly good to hold in my hand. Its somewhat speedier than my Z800, and most Nokias i have tried. (and that is not many )

Im really satisfied with my Z800, so im not a convinced buyer. And this phone held som much promisses, iwe been waiting for it since iwe held one at CeBIT and it really turned me down the first day. Now im going to sleep, and have another go with it tomorrow. Maybe it will be better then, but i doubt it.
