With regards to Sun, bottom line is after all its poor service and signal, kung wala ang radical pricing ng SUN, hindi magbaba ng call rates ang Smart and Globe. Yun nga lang, benefitted lang ang mga prepaids. Look nowadays...because of Sun, smart's promo of php 10 for a 3 minute call or php 15 peso for a 5 minute call translates to 3 pesos per minute. In the long run, we the consumers win. However... lugi yung mga post paid kasi on the average plan, the cost per minute translates to 5 peso/minute (for 1200 to 1800 smart plan) for Smart and Globe.

I agree with your post with regards to prepaid subscribers having a better pricing per call as of the moment. However, there are come advantages being on a plan compared being on prepaid. E.g. Globe internet is only available on postpaid plans. Unlimited GPRS for Globe. Faster connection. Less drop calls. And there are good retention plans for Globe and Smart subs. I'm sure there are other benefits aside from that. But you're right, they should (operators) at least even out the pricing per min of postpaid and prepaid.

I wish Sun would come up with an Unlimited GPRS for prepaid. Like Load up 500 to 1000 pesos to surf all you want [addsig]

Sun - the network I Love to Hate

I love it when it works, I hate it when it doesn't. Buti di ako doctor, kundi patay na pasyente ko. One of their ads suck, showing a doctor on 24 x 7. I think they pulled it out because it was a joke.

NEW PROMO:

Daylite Call and Text Unlimited is extended to 15 days instead of the usual 12 days! Para sa mga gustong sila ang tinatwagan sa gabi.

@arnoldc
Yeah i saw that. Good idea. But it's doesn't apply to Sun's reputation. [addsig]

if you have time, just window shop sa cellphone stalls sa mall and you will find it. maliit lang naman yung area.

The lowest plan at Sun right now is P350/month, correct me if i'm wrong. There's an alloted free SMS and Call Minutes. Now, if you want your Sun to Sun calls/text to be unlimited, they will charge you P250/month from your P350 monthly subs. But this won't be on top of your monthly. What will happen is that the P250.00 will go to Sun to Sun CTU, then the remaining P100 will be for your call/text for other networks. This is recommended when you have many friends or colleagues on Sun Network. What they meant by enabling it without extra cost, is, they won't be charging you for any fee for the activation.

So, it only means... I will still have Php 100.00 left as "regular load". That's a good scheme for me, as I have many friends in the Sun network, and few other friends in other networks whom I need to keep in touch in times of emergency... Thanks for the info!

Correction:
The lowest plan right now is Php 350/month
Unlimited Sun to Sun calls and text is Php 350/month not Php 250.

If one is subscribed to Plan 350, the subscriber may opt, upon advice to Sun, apply the Php350 monthly to Sun unlimited call and text. If he opts to do this, then calls to other networks and text beyond the allocated free messages (I don't remember how many now) would be charged on top of the Php 350.

For those who subscribed to the old plan 250 and wish to avail of the unlimited Sun call and text, Php 100 would be added to their bill.

Right. I stand corrected. I was referring to the old plan they had. It's a good thing though that subscribers have the option to go unlimited on their plan. Depends if you have friends on Sun or with the other networks. [addsig]

SUN cellular updates:

- Spending $ 200 Million ( P 11,200,000,000) this year to fast track roll out of cell sites to increase coverage and capacity. The increased spending is addressing the increasing subscriber base and improving capacity to handle calls as well as provide for better coverage.

- Sun cellular's capacity is expected to handle 3 million subscribers by year end 2005.

- Has allocated another $ 200 Million (P 11,200,000,000) next year(2006) to accommodate 6 million subscribers.

- Sun Cellular could afford to give Unlimited Call and Text Rates as Standard pricing scheme instead of just a promo because unlike other Telecommunications provider(Smart or Globe), Sun Cellular has Brand New Telecommunications Equipments acquired recently at 1/2 of the original cost when the older companies acquired them. These savings are passed on to Sun Cellular subscribers in the form of Value for money propositions like 24/7 CTU and Daylite pricing. In the end, the consumers themselves benefit with lower rates while giving them the power to choose.

- Sun Cellular advertises Less than the other Networks. This results to significant Savings to the company, which are then passed on to subscribers.

- Sun Cellular is a new entry player and as such, must be given allowances for its network upgrading. The times were long gone when BOTH Smart and Globe had network problems when the cellular industry was yet starting. Back then, Globe and Smart CHARGED for every Drop calls and Un-sent text to anybody in their network. Good thing for Sun Cellular, you could still dial again to reach your recipient without having to spend if you're under 24/7.
