@aamwng:
At the moment I prefer the Snapdragon SoC, unless Samsung offers something interesting with their Exynos chipsets.
Sure Cortex A15 is a perfomance beast, but also sucks at batterylife :/
@ramu:
You need to get some new insider informations, we have some serious leak/information-drought on Honami

Why does everything have to be about Honami?
@Ramu Could you give us a specs rundown of all the devices you know about and haven't been released(e.g. One Sony 2, Ray 3 etc.)
and What happened to Sony and Qualcomm's joint partnership for a costumized chip ypu mentioned a few hundrer pages back??

Sony is not moving away from Qualcomm any time soon. They tried out another vendor with ST-Ericsson last year and decided very quickly that they were going to stick with Qualcomm.
The Xperia C software is actually made by Arima Communications, not Sony. Sony did provide the usual media apps and everything, but the core system is developed by Arima. |

All soc makers are sending out samples to potential customers, it is nothing new. S(E) probably got exynos is the past as well |

Of course this is only your guess supercoolman... But I agree 100% with it, not a single chance.
Samsung will first need to show the world next gen Exynos can be used in their own phones, as for current gen exynos it is compromised.
Then assuming it is the case, Sony has no interest "helping" samsung, so samsung will have to cut prices.
Sony will need to optimise software, which is currently optimised for snapdragon, and that would be a new cost.
Finally, sorry but my gut feeling is sony+amazon+nvidia < apple in volume and how much you can make them pay

Name me one competitor that can make great fast no failure production internal storage and RAM chips in vast .... VAST volumes like Samsung can??
- SanDISK = uses a LOT of their CHIPS,
- many of the industries laptops do as well!
So i challenge you .... whom??

Only in September? Oh my god, I'll maybe buying the ZL instead and just wait for 2014/2015 flagship instead, as ZOMG told until then, we'll be able to see an ZL like design and the phone still water proof
I have to agree with Mr. rickrz coz I am thinking of getting the Xperia Z for now so when its time for me to upgrade there will be the one sony 2 and possibly a mini one sony 2 as well out from 2014/2015 flagships and because these are pure Sony devices from the ground up then Updates and maintenance will keep coming and well maintained, can't wait, I have waited long but now I really feel like getting the Z ! |

How does this even remotely relate to whether sony will use exynos in future xperia?
Anyway samsung semi will have volume and profitability issues soon and sony, nvidia and amazon do not add up to make for the loss of apple even if they wanted to help samsung which is itself unlikely.
If you see what advantages sony would have in partnering with samsung for their cpus in future xperia feel free to share i think it is on topic.
Personally i think this will be qualcom for high end for a few years and intel is the most likely competitor, but if they take over it will take several years.

NO Sony no!!!! I smell a ploy and despicable technique Samsung is up to! They will probably open up your phones and products, learn, inspect and STEAL YOUR TECHNOLOGIES AND CLAIM IT AS THEIR OWN!!!!!
Another thing is, IF they are able to make vast volumes and fast amount of time, and as you said most companies user their chips, doesn't it mean that they do not not even NEED these companies support and they still get a huge amount of profit from the other companies? There must be something in these companies which will do Samsung good that they try to extract from. |

^Yep, without Apples volume Samsung will have a hard time selling their Exynos chipsets, and I don't see why Sony will change in near time.
More likely that they will provide one model with an Intel processor.

Relativity is most manufactures sell you the item you want with an item you can use as a packaged benefit: CPU+RAM/Storage = better economies of scale in volume, along with the volume delivered on time. When have we heard Samsung have RAM delivery issues besides what was caused by natural disasters (many of which killed off a least 4 of the competition that if survived would've made SSD in our laptops much cheaper years ago, along with our smartphones and tablets). Also that 8-core or multi-core whatever it is is quite comparable to what Qualcomm is delivering. Lastly LG usually gets the dibs (by paying mega $$) to Qualcomm to be the first to have volume of their latest and greatest cpu's for launch; been this way for about 4-5yrs now, and again Aug 7th, just before Sony. No more waiting for exclusitivity - we all hate that with phones on our carriers so why should the manufacturer of a complete product have to deal with it in sourcing their parts?! Dealing with this increases the cost of their supply chain as waiting costs money in the assembly line = amortization!
PS: I should've elaborated more in my first quote above yours, apologies.
I just hope Sony leaves the thin book-like sharp edged design and soon. The hardware and looks are great, but not feeling specific emphasis on rectangular shapes.
