Hi there, need to confirm this:
I had 2 * 512MB 533MHz DDR2
and i added 2 * 1GB 667MHz DDR2
Will they now run at seperate speeds or 3GB at 533Mhz?
ta!

Auto scroll is a windows thing isn't it? It's normally on by default but I should imagine it's in the control panel under 'mouse'. Unless there's a seperate control panel for the laptop's touchpad...
@gtreds
It depends on the motherboard and memory. Sometimes, higher speed memory will "clock down" to either the maximum bus speed supported by the motherboard or to the lowest speed memory in the system.
As for your Vista disk, yes it looks like it definitely doesn't like your hardware configuration so you're stuck with XP until you can get hold of a different DVD.

My friend recently got divorced (yay for me, if you know what i mean!) but the pc was set up by her ex and only he knows the administrator password but hes being an arse and wont give it her. Is there any way of re-setting it without wiping everything?
Thanks |

There is, but it's rather complicated!
Basically, it involves downloading a special Linux boot disk which includes a program that can read and reset encrypted data on NTFS file systems.
Or, in plain English, you download the .iso file, burn it as a bootable CD, pop it in the drive, boot up the computer and follow the instructions!
It's a text-based program rather like the old MSDOS stuff so it's not exactly easy to use.
I'm not even sure if it's still available online but if you want to have a go, PM me and I'll see if I can dig it out for you.
I've only ever had to use it once and it took ages to get it right

Cyco.
I have a HP desktop with 1gb RAM and Vista. It is still under warranty for another 5 months with Tesco (< dad's idea not mine )
I want to upgrade either the RAM or the OS without voiding my warranty, possible?
Btw: The box is easy to get into just 1 fat screw |

You'll have to check the small print in the warranty policy because some companies do let you, others don't. So "sorry, I don't know" is the honest answer!
