Aussies, just thought I would pass on that I had my phone upgraded to R8A015, and got a couple of other little issues fixed (volume slider and keypad was worn out) at a place in Parramatta called Mobilefonerepair.com. Took the phone in, they said it would be about an hour, and indeed it was, keypad cost me 5 bucks but software upgrade and volume slider were both under warranty. I would recommend them if you're anywhere near here and need any work done |

Hey all,
I've had my Ericsson T39m for almost two years now, its out of warranty and the phone is playing up majorly. The signal is hardly ever present, occassionaly it comes back to full strength and allows me to make a call, but usually what happens is that there'll be 2-4 bars for signal strength, but the moment i try dialling, it drops out, and the only way to get a signal back is to restart the phone.
Any clues on whats doing this? I had the same problem with the phone when it was about 10months old and had it replaced with another one under warranty, now this one is again about 10months old and doing the same thing..am i doing something wrong?
Anyhow..
Im in the market for a new phone, I'm looking at a T610 (can get one off eBay for $457) or maybe even a P900 depending on the price it gets released at.
Where are some good sites within Australia to look for phones?
I've found so far:
http://www.stop.com.au
http://www.ow.com.au
http://www.discountmobiles.com.au
Would it be worth continuing this thread just to list URL's?
Cheers

I never knew it existed, but I just thought I would try it and it worked. There is an Australian version of Expansys! At first I was very excited because from what I've read on this forum, expansys is a very good place to deal with because they had good prices and always have items available very quickly.
I am assuming that the site is not properly set up yet because the prices are all messed up (and not in a good way) because everything is extremely expensive eg P800 for $2100 and T610 for $1600!! Also every product on the site is "Sold Out". The only good thing I can find is that the shipping is very cheap ($0.00 everywhere is Australia) but they'll probably fix this up when they actually have some stock to sell.
I'll be watching this site with interest because once they get their act together, it might be my new place to buy all my stuff (atm I get most of my accessories from P800er.com). |

I've been keeping an eye on Ebay for SE phones of late, and There was this one that struck out at me:
Sony Ericsson P900 and P800 brand new!!!
Anyway I contacted the seller by email and got told that I can make a purchase outside Ebay. P900 for AUS$400, or P800 for AUS$300.
I asked if this could be arranged through Ebay's BUY IT NOW Facility.Sorry no can do, i could however arrange a Western Union Transfer and have it shipped through Fed Ex out of Hong Kong.
They may as well have asked me to send them cash!
Be warned fellow Aussies using Ebay. Always use Ebay to buy from and its worth spending more to use Paypal if not a direct deposit into a local bank (that is easier to trace the owner to).

Hey, Bogus Jimmy, looks like you were right!
This is from the UK Expansys web site today...
17th Nov Australia Coming Soon ...
We are pleased to announce that from the 1st December we will be launching our new Australian office - which will dramatically improve shipping costs to that region.
