I guess we will have to try and go as public as possible. If we can make a loud enough noise, I am sure this will impact their new phone models.

My reply to their answer:

Thank you for your answer. I am completely astonished by your answer, or lack there of. I supplied you with information for two contacts and a website that has detailed documentation that there is a problem with the phone and the best that you can offer is to go have my 5 times repaired and twice replaced phone, repaired again. This is the best that SE can do? Well, those of us have decided to take this public. We will be contacting WatchDog, The Stiftungsware Testing in Germany, Consumer Reports in the US, and The Consumer News in Finland and give them demonstrations so that they can determine if there is a problem or not considering that SE fails to acknowledge a problem. I "was" an SE customer, but no more. Once this issue is settled, I will go back to Nokia. At least they will make an effort to resolve customer issues and not provide a typical marketing response.

Hey Chris, did you explain and show them the s700i reboot-a-palooza handset? How did they react when you showed them the rebooting? Did they pull a face, get that deer in the headlights look on their face?

So at least 1 new handset does not exhibit the reboot problem. It is on O2 and has R3L firmware. Do you think that it is fixed by new firmware (so hopefully we can all have it fixed) or is it a hardware change?

By the way, my one only reboots when the phone is laid flat with the battery side next to the metal/computer. It is ok when any other side is touching it.

Keep up the good work sapporobaby and chris-s700i.

Just got off the phone with SE Finland. YES!!!!!!! They say for sure there is a problem with the phone. SE acknowledges there is a problem and they are working on a solution. ALLLLLLL SE service centers should know this, however the Finns and Swedes have a close relationship so Finland might know a bit more than the rest of Europe but the key is that there is a problem that SE will address. Chris, take this to your shop and shove it in their faces.

I have a not-branded S700i with R3K004, built on 6th week of 2005. I tried to call somewhere and put the calling phone near my CRT monitor, computer, TV, fridge, electric oven and so on. The phone calls ok without rebooting. What I'm doing wrong? Maybe because of my 32MB MS DUO card?

So its not just me whos S700i doesnt reboot. I even tried putting mine in my computer. I talked to my girlfriend with it like that using my BT headset.

No idea.

Mine reboots like a maniac anytime it comes near my Mac, TV, fridge, or most metals.

What't your phone production date? Mine is 05W06 (6th week of 2005) which is written under the battery. Maybe rather new phones haven't got such a problem?
