Mobilink gprs is up till now in 4 cities only and only for post paid users. So its a very slow and disappointing start. But hope they spread it soon to all of their net work and also for the pre paid users. In fsd tele nor gprs really troubling me these days. It do not connect and message comes gprs services busy. So i have switched back to u phone at this time. Regards. Umer

@Bilal. Yes i also think of over charging of gprs on the telenor. When i am going to end a gprs session i usually take a look at data counter. So some times when total date is say 700 or 800 kb both down loaded and up loaded then it cast 18 to 20 rupees. Although it is supposed to cast less than 15 rupees. On the other hand on the ufone i never have such complain. Yes we can only hope Warid gives some stunning blow to other companies with some of its amazing packages. Regards. Umer.

Guys today was WARID launch. So i take a look on all the news papers and there add were so complicated that they told nothing clearley that whats the pre paid terrif and whats the post paid terrif. So after my college off at 2 i went to there sale centre . There on there centre they were just selling connections. When i ask for package detail they told me that now this time they are only selling prepaid. Post paid are not available this time . I asked about the gprs rate and they do not know what is gprs. The guy i asked send me to SIR and sir was more disappointing than the junior. So i bought a sim and came back. Now from 3 pm to 6 pm here is no signal on this sim. We were three guys who bought it. So now we are waiting for signal to test the service. So GREAT COMPANY. GREAT LAUNCH. !!! Up till now its a total disappoint for us in faisalabad.

Hello all,
For a couple of days i am reading posts about excessive charge by Telenor for the GPRS. Being a post paid package user of Telenor since its launch in March, i did some research on how Telenor charge for GPRS. Before i go into the details, here are some useful conversion factors:
1,024 Bytes = 1 Kilo Bytes (KB)
1,024 KB = 1 Mega Byte (MB)
The rate for GPRS is Rs 15 per MB. Telenor charge in the packets of 64 KB. There are 16 packets of 64 KB in 1 MB (64 KB * 16). The rate per packet of 64 KB is Rs 0.94 (Rs 15/ 16 = Rs 0.9375, rounded to Rs 0.94 per packet of 64 KB), this is exclusive of sales tax with it it comes to Rs 1.081.
Now if u use 2.61 packets of 64 KB data then charge will be for 3 packets instead of for exact 2.61 (Rs 2.82, Rs 0.94 * 3). Whenever u connect to the GPRS u will be charged 0.94 even if no data is downloaded.
I have checked with my itemized bill and found the charge to be correct. One thing which i couldnt verify is that the data charged is the same as shown by the phone data counter.
Now someone from you can share with us whether the other operators like mobilink, ufone, warid are also following the same practice as Telenor is following now.
Note: any one know when SE K750i will be launched in Pakistan?

@SE7. Very nice explanation man. Thanks. About other companies i want to say that with what ever what procedure ufone charge us i do not know about procedure but it seems to cost less. So we think that tele nor is over charging because apparentely both have the same rates that are 15 rp per mb. Hope some one tell us about the mobilink gprs usage also soon. Regards

Friends and family has 5 choices but they can only be chosen from warid numbers. GPRS charges are 50 rupee per month for getting the services and 3 rupees per 200 kb for data. Hope some one tells in deep detail how they charge for it. Call rates are some impressive. But until every one switches to warid even its call rates are also not very very impressive. SO THIS LAUNCH IS NOT IMPRESSIVE AT ALL.

Hi guys!
I was so excited abt the Warid but today in newspaper I saw their advertisement I saw a line in that " Introducing 30 Second billing as opposed to per minute" what u guys think now is this affordable thing that from now we gona pay them for a call after every 30 seconds ???. Is that right guys wht i conclude ??

Basit, 30 seconds billing means that for instance the call charges are Rs 3 per minute, then if u call for 30 seconds then u will be charged Rs 1.50 instead of full Rs 3 which is being charged by all the other network operators in Pakistan. But remember, this 30 second billing is only applicable from warid to warid only. In all the other mobile networks in Pakistan, if u call for a second or for full one minute the charges are the same, i.e. full charge for the minute, now this practice is being changed by Warid for intra network calls only. I hope this clears all the confusion.
Bjerkebanen asked if Telenor offers some special rates for calls made to Norway, the answer is no. These days they are not even able to resolve the problem due to which it is not possible to receive any SMS coming from abraod including SMS from Telenor Norway. That i have myself experienced.
Warid rate is Rs 3 per 200 KB of data download, as there are 1,024 KB in one MB, therefore, it come to Rs 15.36 (1,024 KB / 200 KB = 5.12 packets of 200 KB, equivalent to one MB * Rs 3 = Rs 15.36).
Telenor is charging Rs 15 per MB so this is how it looks like.

I have bought the WARID connection.
There call rates are fine but GPRS or MMS services are not lauched uptil now. I activated my GPRS,WAP from the built in services on SIM
But its not working and they are saying that it will start in some days,
I think from Friday. And secondly I can't register on thier site, I get the SMS in responce that "message cannot be displayed" instead of the code. BUT one thing special is that they have many BUILT IN services on the SIM like news, jokes, tones and many more but they charge Rs 3.80 for each which is high rate. The BALANCE can't be viewed on the screen but appears on the screen when call ends.
They don't have the MISSED CALL ALERTS.
I am amazed about one thing that TELENOR HAS SPEND TOO MUCH ON ADVERTISEMENTS WHILE WARID HAD NOT SPEND A SINGLE PENNY INSTEAD OF OPENING CEREMONY THAT WAS ALSO NOT SO GOOD.
SO THATS WHY NOTHING IS CLEAR ABOUT WARID.

@SE7. Man as telenor charges are 0.94 rupee for 64 kb thats how they charge. I think that means if we use say 10 kb then we have to pay 0.94 rupees for the whole 64kb. I think is the same thing as if we make a call for 10 sec but pay for whole one minute. SO as the telenor packet is smaller that is 0.94 rupee for the 64kb as compared to the warid packet which will be 3 rupee for 200kb. So in warid i think if we use say 10kb we have to pay 3 rupees. So in long run warid gprs will cast much more. Am i right or not as i am not sure about the thing. @ BILAL. Man beleive me they spend some on advertisement. But all they do not know is that what they are supposed to tell the people. I also down loaded the GPRS settings and they did not worked. Then i called the help line that is also a whole story how this call went through. But they told me ours Gprs is NOT PRE ACTIVE so it will be activated on manual request. So i reguseted that ok then do it and they said your file has not reached us
