@zordon

Glad you got it sorted one way or another

@djordje1yu

I'm pretty sure those drivers do work because i am using them. I think I also installed something called 'Mobile Phone Monitor', and this gave me an option in the control panel that i used to enable the relevant COM port so as to use the sync-station. Not sure what else to suggest.

@Spitfire

i'm pretty sure all you need is the drivers for the dss-20/25 and the mobile phone monitor. I haven't installed the pc suite anyway

Yeah, you should be able to try it tomorrow. As long as they don't take the service down again. Hope you don't have any problems with it anyway

Bugger no Z1010 update....

P.s I dont think the server crashed the first time as alot of you seem to think, I believe it was more a trial run. Because its really simple for SE to realise that they sold X amount of K700's and the amount of people who might try to update online will be around about "y" so x+y=xy (xy: SHIT LOADS OF BANDWITH)

I believe your logic is flawed. I see three mistakes

1) If X is the number of handsets bought (let's say 100.000) and Y is the number of users trying to update (30.000). It is safe to assume that X>Y (Not all users will try to update at the same time)
Furthermore we need to get to a bandwith measurement per session (lets call this B)
Next you use an addition to calculate the needed (total) bandwidth. WHY?
The needed bandwidth would be Y multiplied with B =YB (users times needed bandwidth per session)

2) But then your result in your formula is a multiplication (XY). With the given parameters this would be totally wrong. For a multiplication you would need to assume Y is a proportion of users trying to update (so 30% =0.3) So X times Y = XY=100000x0.3= 30.000 (which is your Y)

3) Then you have XY (which you call a shitload of bandwith but that has nothing to do with bandwidth you need to factorise B into your formula, SO XY times B, voila your total bandwidth needed

Sorry if I went a bit off topic, but flawed logic is a big problem nowadays. Just check news reports on researches and studies and you''l find them full of mistakes. And misinformation can have grave consequences.

hi guys. need some help here. yesterday i was able to successfully update my K700i to R2L via the online update service. i haven't tried out the phone to see changes from R2A. Now i tried sending a JPG image from PC to phone via bluetooth but the phone did not accept the file because it says that the memory is full. the thing is i have 42MB free! any of you guys experienced this? btw i used DSS-20 and i also used a dial-up connection using a 56K modem (if these have any bearing to my problem). do you think i need to reflash my phone again? pls help. thanks.

@dietbrand One word sums up your explanation WEIRD... I did not claim to be Einstein...all I tried to give was a simple breakdown of what any normal person will understand.. I havent bothered to read through your whole explanation as I have better things to do. But as no human being is EVER 100% correct I guess that makes your explanation (if I can use your own words) "Flawed".

So if you thought your breakdown was "perfect" then think again............

You should read through dietbrand's excellent explanation, and I cannot see any flaws with his logic. And I doubt they would need 'shit loads of bandwidth' either, the filesizes are pretty small and I doubt many people would be updating at the same time. Anyway, this is a bit off-topic... so has anyone got any updates on the O2/Vodafone issues? I'm waiting for O2 to get back to me with any new info, but looks like I'll have to wait until monday now.

Did you look up which COM port the syncstation is using in Device Manager -> Ports, and then enable that port in Phone Monitor Options. Think thats all i did
