Sorry to break the ice but for those whom managed to downgraded, do you really think it's just that? I mean service provider would loose money on the heavily subsidised handset on such low line rental.
Only time would tell whether there will be nasty surprises on your bill. I'm sure they would impose some penalty fee or some sort to compensate this. Perhaps the handset's price for whatever tariff you downgrade to. I'm on the same boat as well and as a matter of fact, even worse from CPW. Minimum 6 months before I can downgrade and spoke to Cust Serv advisor the other day where he could downgrade my tariff to anyone I like within first 14 days from purchase. To play safe, when I mentioned that I got it free on the basis of price match, he pause for a second and adviced that I would be charge for it. |

When i downgraded, o2 did not mention anything of the sort. they should tell us if they are going to charge, not just charge us on our bill.
And how do they know where we bought the phone from and how much we paid for it.

Hi Guys, Long time watcher of the Forum, Have tried this o2 deal myself and have successfully got through and changed both my tariffs down to 02 leisure (£15 a month one) The guy i spoke to was called Robin, bit moody but i kept asking him if he was busy, looking forward to the weekend etc. He asked me how long i had had the phones i panicked a bit and said err about 1-2 months i said one was faulty and took it back to the shop which was re-issued (it wasn't really). Anyway he did the downgrade no probs. My theory is they are asking everyone who has these P900 how long they have had them for (i bought mine on 6th December) cos they know if you got them free or not. Anyway i think if you say a month or 2 - he didn't check and will put it through for you.
Hope this helps some of you, oh and i was only onhold for 3 minutes!!!! despite waiting 30 mins most days this week and not getting through!! |

I just downgraded my to a £20 a month tariff this afternoon from CPW. The girl was very helpful and cheerful a the same time. She told me that on my account was stated ability to change to any tariff within 14 days. |

Hi,
I finally got a P900 free on O2 from CPW (they matched the O2 offer). however, i didnt know about the 6 month period (it was printed on my contract but it was printed over existing text and was not easily noticeable).
Anyway, vampyriaerotica, are you sure no clawback would be charged for changing the tariff down? If not ill do it ASAP. Did you do it by phone or at a store?
I have read this forum many times but thought now should be the time to join and post a question to the experts.
Many thanks for all your help!

@AceRimmer
I got the 6 months period for downgrade printed on my invoice as well. After extensive reading on this particular forum, I changed my tariff to £20 one last Friday with no problem at all. I was told that I could change to any tariff inside the first 14 days period.
It's a bit confusing but I took down the advisor's name whom changed my tariff just in case CPW come up with any discrepancy! I don't suppose they can just bill you with clawback without informing you in the first place. |
