fMA f[??] Mobile Agent, software for sms and phone monitoring |

This is strange! I just tryed connecting my phone to 2 profiles, Serial and DUN and that worked.. then I tryed connecting Mobile Agent to the phone and that worked, but when I tryed connecting with the GPRS connection that didn't work. My theory is that the phone only supports one connection at a time. That's just a limitation.
However, I have found one bug in the Mobile Agent software. It does not send the following charachters via SMS: Áá, Éé, Íí, Óó, Úú, etc. on the other end they come out as Question marks. These charachters with the commas facing to the other direction work well when sending an SMS. The Ericsson phones are able to display these letters, but it's not possible to type them in on the phone's keypad.
There is also another thing that shoul be fixed. When I recieve a call and the Mobile Agent is connected to the phone it will pop up a small window with the buttons Answer and Hang Up. Answer does not loose it's functionality if the phone call is answered and if pressed during a conversation the program hangs. |

@float
i cant connect to GPRS while FMA is running. it has got to do with the port being already open, and windows can't open it for use anymore
@arnoldc
hmmm ... how many com ports do you have? are you saying that that BT card uses 2 ports at the same time. that's interesting.
anyway, i still can't use my MPM-based apps (phone is not detected using a USB to RS232 cable connected to a data cable) but FMA and GPRS works fine. |

@Float
I got this error: Exception +cms error: 500
from the debug window:
10:41:23:389 [RX] +CMS ERROR: 500
I was sending several messages (about 50) when it occurred.
Is there a faster way of sending messages to multiple recipients? With PBTM, I can select multiple contacts to whom messages will be sent out, I cant do that with FMA
(Don't worry, am not spamming. It's just that SMS is quite convenient for sending short notices to several recipients.) |

@Merkur,
Thanks for informing.
For the character set, i tested some of the character work fine, such as é. The rest are not defined in the 7 bit default alphabet as specified by GSM 03.38. I guess it must be under 8-bit encoding then, is it commonly used?
Here a table of the 7-bit default alphabet which i used:
http://www.dreamfabric.com/sms/default_alphabet.html
Currently i didn't support those Greek characters and some special characters which require Escape Sequence.
I will get "Answer" fixed in next release, remind me if i didn't
@GOWin,
I configured 3 serial port for my phone on my TDK BT, 2x for Serial Port (COM4-FMA, COM5-MPM) and 1x for DUN (COM8). I notice COM4 and COM5 can't be used simulteneously but didn't try otherwise.
CMS ERROR 500 is return by the phone and it means "Unknown Error" Are you sending to multiple receipent? I don't think i can do anything about it unless maybe impose a delay between each receipent and it the phone rest for a while. Let me know if the problem persist.
If you mean selecting for sending, you can (currently) do it:
1. select the number from the phonebook, select "Message To Contact", repeat this process for other contacts, FMA will not open a new message window for each contact, rather will add the contacts to the same message window.
2. alternativelly, you may drag the number to the "To" box, one by one.
3. alternativelly, you could have a text file handly, list the contacts (just the number will be sulficient) in one line separate by semi-colon, copy and paste the line into the "To" box.
4. alternativelly, write a script
When you sent via PBTM, you still have to wait for the quite sometime right? For example if one text takes 2 seconds, 50 receipient will take 100s? Btw, did you try sending to 50 receipient from PBTM, did it return an error?
I have plan to add Group/Distribution List in later version, but that will be after re-architecture of storage system. FMA was started as just a simple SMS sending program that allow me to type message via the full size keyboard
Btw, you could expect Phonebook editing after the re-architecture, since i've partially implemented the OBEX protocol. I do not know when will that happenned, but i wish to try out/add more feature to give a better idea on it.
Cheers,

@float
Thanks for the info.
In my case, the laptop that i use doesnt have a built-in COM port. I have to use a USB to RS232 adapter so I can use serial devices.
What I wanted to know is if it's possible for multiple apps (say FMA and active GPRS connection) to use it at the same time. |

@float, i would like to inform you that your application works with my Anycom CF-2000 bluetooth card. Using the same configuration i use for MPM (COM6 serial port, COM7 DUN port) i am able to simultaneously use FMA and GPRS via bluetooth. I did not see Anycom in your compatibility list, so i guess it's appropriate to include it now
i would also like to find out if it will be easy for you to be a able to put a reply button on the pop-up SMS window (upon receipt of SMS). i just find it much more convenient if i can reply to SMS via the pop-up window.
it's getting better and better... congratulations! |

@arnoldc
Thanks.
You can already reply from the pop-up, just double-click on the text I want to keep the window small (it pops up at the lower right conner silently) that's why i didn't add a button.

Hey bro!
I've got good news, finally got my FMA to work!
Here's how I did it:
You mentioned is MS-Script Control isrequired for Windows 98 on your web site but the link points to Windows Script 5.6
So I checked out this thread and found out the link you gave in post #73 was correct.
So here you are, the link for MS-Script Control...
http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/sample.asp?url=/MSDN-FILES/027/001/732/msdncompositedoc.xml&frame=true
...and a direct link to the file...
http://download.microsoft.com/download/winscript56/Install/1.0/W982KMeXP/EN-US/sct10en.exe
I'm using:
Windows 98 Second Edition
circle data USB TO IrDA Infrared Adapter - Ir01
Sony Ericsson T68i
@ibiwalliser
The only thing I know that doesn't work in Win98se is the remote control's minimize and restore feature, isn't it float?
@Merkur
Ericsson phones not only can display those characters, you can input them too but it's disabled by default
All you have to do is go to Settings>Language>Input, scroll down to abc..., press * and finally Yes
When you are typing a SMS simply hold the # key and select abc... as the Input Language, you should now be able to type those characters using your keypad
eg. Áá is in key 2ABC
Éé is in key DEF3
Íí is in key 4GHI etc...
Cheers to you too floAt!

@Shaw0
Thank you for your information. Sorry about the link, i'm actually not sure which is correct
For missing functionality in Win98SE, i didn't know that Minimize and Restore doesn't work. All i know is you will not have Unicode.
Cheers,
floAt

Well, I'm not going to uninstall the Windows script and risk screwing up FMA again...
FMA is too valuable to screw up!
And I got that minimize and restore thing to work too...
Well, I dunno what happened... wrong keypress maybe???
Oh ya, I forgot about that unicode thingy...
Frankly, I don't understand a word of chinese...
btw... Where did you get your TDK Bluetooth adapter?
When I ask the guys at the computer shops they give me a like-as-if-I-just-landed-from-Mars look...
Sigh...
If it's avalable here, would you be kind enough to post their phone number?
Keep up the good work!

So when will you be adding the possibility to send long messages?
I really miss that function.
I really like your program, its much better then the prog from SE.
Your doing a great job m8.
I finally got the program working (after trying everything a couple of months ), its great.
BTW anybody here from Greece? I just got home from one of the islands outside Greece, really great place. It was almost like travelling back in time.

Suggestion:
As I use FMA frequently (coz i still cant make MPM recognize my phone), I would like to request for a feature that would making sending SMS to multiple recipeints much easier.
While an SMS message box is open, double-clicking on a contact's phone number will add that number to the recipient list.
On another note .... I sometimes get a messages that ends with "@", though the original message from the phone doesnt have it. what gives?
Thanks again for a great app! |
