Has anyone here used 5G ?
Reading reviews of 5G phones, they complain even in cities with 5G you dont get it everywhere.
One guy from Android Authority or Central said even in downtown he had issues.
You get 5G here, but not across the street, then again on next block.

sub6 5G is like going from HSUPA+ to LTE it will not make your life any better. 5G mmwave will make a revolution in communication between devices and mobile phones will have a tiny share in it unless processing brute power becomes laptop like. SO basically there are not a lot of benefits in 5G right now if you are a normal phone user. |

I've had 5G in London since June. Sure there are areas where my Oneplus goes back to 4G, but it's still a step up from 4G. Was in a bar with a group of friends and we all did speed tests, they were getting 50-80 mbps on different 4G networks - I was getting 550. I'd say on average I'm getting real world 250mbps - when I switch to 4G it's around 50.
I download a lot of music while commuting and find it much faster and convenient than my previous XZ Premium. |

If Sony does right with android 10, then 10 ii may have similar endurance of Z3c.
Smaller screen than XA2+/XA2U and bit more battery

If the Xperia 1 II can get around a 90 hour endurance score with GSM Arena then I'd be more than happy with that. Larger battery and more energy efficient CPU should help it beat the previous score of 79 hours.

Hoping it has better sunlight legibility, remove heating issue (including camera), better and not buggy auto camera software. And does anybody knows does it has front camera eye af ? |

these are not samples taken by gsmarena, but photos provided on the gallery page of the product page under their camera section, showing the various wide angle views.

i agree solving the heating issue is paramount. hopefully they've done this. considering they are really pushing 5G pro model, i would hope the non-pro model also has significant heat dissipation built in.
i would expect the stock camera software to be very much the same as before. this phone and its camera features are geared toward serious photographers who will use the Photo Pro app 9 out of 10 times. Not sure, but perhaps the Photo Pro app also has an auto mode much like SLRs have an auto mode. we shall see.
Front cam does not have eye AF according to the spec sheet. we do not know for sure about a lot of things since Sony is not allowing anybody to have true hands on. It seems the camera software is still quite buggy and no one is allowed to use it yet.

@moogoo
I remember reading somewhere that the purple version is more like a grey with a hint of purple and not at all like the original Xperia 1.
Still a nice colour though, probably the one I'll go for.

Its chrome light purple. Just like the back finish of XZ premium add a hint of purple. Check minute 14.40
