lesnumeriques.com tested the Screen of the Xperia Z3
" The average contrast, he grew a little to reach a rate of 1202: 1, is one of the best in the industry. And that's not all radius satisfaction, since black is deep and hold on tight, the maximum brightness is nearly 700 cd / m2 (693 to be exact)! An increase of 70% compared to the light output of Z2. A beacon in the night, but also a good way to use the Z3 outdoors without having to read the screen."
Delta E of 5 (lower is better; 6.8 for the Xperia Z2)
Color temperature to an average more or less uniform across the spectrum of 9805 Kelvin
Gamma goes up to 2.5
-> In a normal eye, the result is this: very white whites, deep blacks, gray light. Overall, the color rendering is balanced almost perfectly and we feel that Sony is trying to bring its mobile display its screen area.
80 ms reaction time for the touch screen with activated Gloves mode (100ms for the Xperia Z2)
17 ms the IPS screen itself

I suppose the Z2 had around 410 cd/m² in their test.
(Every tech sites equipment and methods may vary, so there's no 100% accuracy among them.)
And yeah 693 cd/m2 impressive!

the z2 seems to be doing a better job.
however, i'm a little baffled by how they took the photo. if they were taking snaps of those images from the same distance, objects on the z3's photo should be smaller than on the z2's since it has a wider field of view. if they brought the phone closer to make the image fill the whole screen, it should result in better clarity and brightness since they're closer to the object. i hope someone can explain how that comparison turned out that way. z3 low light performance in that comparison is even worse than g3's and htc one's.

Looks like poland will have both versions according to the mobile store, the Z3 appeared in the 4 different colours, no price yet, dual is already on pre-order in 3 colours, white, black and copper.
The link please? I cannot see it.
Does anybody know if double sim is identical on specs?

surprise Z3 started off with the best and start loosing ground as the light condition gets worse. You can tell the processing is very similar to S5 now. Which I am not sure if that is a good thing, LG still fail to me like they also do with their super sai filter lol. M8 Holds up really well in low light, but the camera is too low res to even make me consider it over any others. Z2 is doing a great job. |

I can't explain that, they should have more consistency in their picture comparison tool, would make it easier for us to use.
the z2 seems to be doing a better job.
I can't judge from the pictures myself at the moment, but the reviewer says:
"No doubt Sony has made some progress since the Z2. In the car as manual, images are less dull, sharper and even if a few weaknesses in the contours is observed, it is also supported on older models. The image also takes much less to the red. Alas algorithm edge enhancement is expressed more forcefully than the Z2. Looking more closely at the image, we see too forced contours, providing an artificial many clichés aside. The manual continues to convince us that most auto mode."
z3 low light performance in that comparison is even worse than g3's and htc one's.
My guess is they used "Intelligent" Auto, which decided to use lower ISO for less noise, but obviously will result in a much darker image. That's they "joy" of auto mode in modern digital cameras, even though the actual scene is the same, the camera might use different settings (ISO, shutter speed,...).
They should have selected the scene mode manually, like Hand-held-twilight, Night portrait or High sensitivity. Only then the maximum ISO will be used as far as I know.

Got a chance to try the Z3 today and I found it to be a likeable phone. Better ergonomics than the previous models. It has an exellent screen and good sound from the speakers, but I could not spot any improvement in the image quality compared with the Z2. And it got a little hot.

Does this phone actually use new battery technology or is it purely down to software optimisation and more mAh.
