Localised backups are up I think so no need to change to world 1. ATleast the thailand update is up according to SEUS. Going to initiate it after I backup the phone. Like a fool I didn't uncheck the backing up of media from the memory card. Now all my music is taking forever...thank god it charges over USB though.

Did you get it to update now or what?

From CDA 162024/92 R3A to 162022/1 R6E29. €20 for Davinci. Absolutely worth it. And it was very easy.

Will never buy from Katshing again.

They didnīt deliver a World Generic phone to me.
And on the box it was written R4A, but the phone was a R3A.

well idk..a little blue screen flashed up before the screen turned of, SEUS detected my CDA correctly and started the update...its still downloading the firmware though but I didn't see anything saying how long I should hold on for.

EDIT: Figured it out. No need to hold it all throughout. I just let go once te download started. Updated succesfully. I'm updating the CDA list on UIQ3 wiki.

But:
Phone: CXC 162037 r9H004
Bluetooth: CXC16162143 R1D
organizer: CXC 162108 R6E30
CDA: CDA 162024/44 R8A

The update file also includes a ton of stuff that was missing from the original firmware. My closed box P1i came with no clipart, sony ringtones or frames. I suddenly found these taking a few MB of my internal memory. Weird that they weren't there originally.

Also different is the picture viewer. Its added a folder that contained pictures but wasn't there earlier in picture viewer.(btw, how do i add existing folders to picture viewer?).

I'm not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this, or because I'm sleepy, but sound quality of the loudspeaker has improved. Earlier it would buzz a lot more on heavy metal stuff, but its sounding clearer. Yes deffinitely sounding slightly better.

Can't comment about speed usage. Seems about the same, but I want to install tweak peaks on it because it seemed to speed up the phone last time I had it on.

Battery life does seem improved. Same heavy usage, but its draining marginally slower than normal.

Overall, working pretty well. BTW, SE really need to work on their backup handling. A lot of minor settings go back to default and I have to reinstall some apps like autocam and fring(though oddly not the drivers that fring required me to install earlier.).

I think we're all getting too obsessed with having a World Generic phone so that we can update to the latest firmware. With the M600 and especially the P990 this was an important issue since they were so flawed but with the P1, there are so few real problems with the phone (except possibly the email formatting/length crashes) that waiting an extra few weeks for the latest firmware is not really a problem. From what I've read, the latest firmware has not added ANY functionality or significant fixes (just the usual "might be faster", "may have longer battery life", "more RAM" suggestions).

I too, was slightly upset when I found my P1 wasn't a WG model but when I look at it sensibly, I realised the need for having the latest firmware was verging on the obsessive compulsive!

Now you can all tell me I'm talking rubbish.......... : )

@gseh88:

You're not talking rubbish But I'm a person with no patience at all, so after spending about 330 euros on the phone I don't mind spending another 20 to get the updates faster. Perhaps also a consequence from owning the N73 where I had a generic version but could see other people (having a localized version) waiting for weeks or months for an update and with the N73 there WERE some worthwhile things.

I just like to have an unrestricted, unlimited, properly supported version and 20 euros is a good investment for just that

I think one should think twice before update if their works without problems now. Mainly because of the pain of going through the process including reinstal of apps or re-setup of settings. I am waiting for another update. No clear changes with this one.
Best regards,

The same with mine, I called the official SE agent in my country and they don't know anything about different versions. They said they will check it. All P990 my friends and I bought before were World Generic 1.
Besides updating earlier are there any other differences between the various CDA versions?
