...now I wonder what they're are gonna show of this "scandal"... i think it's bs! And if they don't show the other girls' reactions tonight or tomorrow, I shall reveal my "conspiracy theory"! Ah heck - that emily was a hired actress playing that rediculous conservative b*tch, who so blatantly lies and bitches, than uses a racist slur, conveniently in a clip not live-streamed, and bang, she's out. And BB has shown the world how tough they now are on racisism!

... I take it back...my conspiracy theory - she is way way way too pathologically self-centred to stick to any BB-scam-plan. did you see her last night! She is NUTS! macadamia-sized! But great, with hindsight...yesterday's newsreports, what bollocks - nicky and charley were clearly offended big-time, and even shabnam was temporarily speechless, which "says" it all...
Maggflodd
p.s. i think btw shabnam should take over big mouth!!!
P.S. was pretty p*ssed off by galloway, of all people, debating the event and gaybashing on the radio etc... His vile old-man sexist bullying in the celeb house was much worse than any of the -isms since, and he doesn't have the excuse of immaturity and uneducatedness! If he had displayed 10 percent of that viciousness as racism rather than sexism he'd be in prison! What doublestandards!!!

I watched the footage and I was a actually quite shocked.
It wasn't said in a nasty way at all but I think what shocked me most was how 'matter o' factly it just came out and you just got the impression that it was part of everyday lingo where she came from.
@batesie
I can see where you're coming from but imagine if Channel4 hadn't acted on this one? Uproar!
I know Charly laughed it off at first but eventually she was quite troubled by it and she began to look more and more unsettled until she just needed some time alone.
I feel sorry for Ziggy though, some of the girls are right nutters I honestly think there is going to be a brawl this year

This whole N*gger thing get's right on my tits, as said before it is OK for someone who is black to flaunt the word N*gger, on TV, in rap music and on the streets, yet as soon as someone who ain't black even mutters the word, holy hell breaks lose, now is it just me or are whites the one's who are being discriminated against here???

... i know where you're coming from, and it's partly why, e.g., public enemy's chuck d. IS URGING black artists not to use the n-word in a fun-way, cause it's not a fun-word, and the inflationary silly-use will inevitably lead to conflict. how ever. In this particular case it was weirdly shocking - the way it popped out of her mouth... Not a hiphop-satirical "my nigger", "my man/bro'/sister"... No, "YOU ni*ger"... In that sociopatic cool/cold way, and then she lied afterwards in front of the girls she said it to, and even attacking them for taking issue!!!!!!! And claiming everyone in the house and outside says it Like that?????
Apart from that, you're wrong it's like men saying, "yeah, I'm for equal rights' wha'ever - but why do feminists/minorities/(etc) have to make such a fuss about it...."... One side of the scale was forced down for sooo f*cking long, that occasionally you have to slam down hard on the other side to even approach "balance"... And I don't think your hurt white sensitivities outweigh the occasional reverse-incorrectness...

Well not all black people do use the word and some still find it very offensive.
So unless we are totally convinced that no-one will be offended when its used then I think its best to keep it at its current status.
Otherwise it also gives people licence to use it in an offensive manner and in situations in which the context or manner in which it is used is dubious or borderline, which will inevitably lead to misunderstandings and conflict.

I got into crap at school once for using the word N word.
It was when a student fell in the bin at school and i quoted a Tupac song. "Growing up as a "N" in a trashcan".... a teacher heard it and I got suspended, rather stupid....

ive heard the word's 'fat b!tch" and other abusive comments used in the house, yet nothing gets done about it!
i honestly think she just said it without thinking first, which doesnt mean its right but it wasn't said during a dissagreement in a fit of anger.
I personally think there are a lot of over sensitive people in this country, i've been called some nasty things, also in a racial way. Its all just names to me, whatever someone calls me.
how about when ziggy was being chased by all the girls, trying to remove his clothes, by the end he was getting quite agitated and looked uncomfortable, if it was the other way around, and it was 1 girl being chased by 7 or 8 blokes trying take her clothes off, there would be an uproar.
on the same note, if charly said oi white girl, nothing would be done about it.....
to summarise, i feel words are words nothing more. BUT abuse is abuse and shouldnt be tolerated, wether its racial or not.

No - 47.00%

seems opinion is split right down the middle!
I must quote this also from the "Have your Say" BBC Site:

I'm Asian and have been on the receiving end of racism.
Emily's comment was NOT racist. You have got to be seriously demented and victim-obsessed to take her comment as anything but light-hearted use of a entire phrase to Charley totally in keeping with the context of their dancing.
We as a country are going mad. I'm sick and tired of this censorship. Channel 4 - I thought you had more guts and brains than to do this. Pathetic.

without those "oversensitive people" we'd still have slavery, gay-bashing, we wouldn't have human/civill rights, minimum wage, animal rights etc etc...
Also: it's a different thing calling a white girl "a white girl"... non-whites, in general, have never been in a position of power over their "white" "friends", have they; therefore the connotations are entirely different! not to mention that "white" is a fairly apt description for a white person, unless you use the generally genetically inaccurate "caucasian"!!! "n*gger" on the other hand has at no point been an accurate description of anything except for the speakers lack of refection!!!!

LMAO What should I change my name to?
I've never been called a dirty rotten goldenface before
@magglodd
Good point matey!
@batesie
Well I do think Channel4 had some guts in showing the footage of it actually being said, it has upset some people but I think they're damned if they do and damned if they don't.
You see you and I might think the world has gone mad being too sensitive as we're grown up and can deal with this sort of thing.
However, try explaining to a young child why they're being called a certain name at school which has seen them come home crying?
I think that its OK to use the word in a friendly way amongst your peers who you are close to but I wouldn't dare use it to refer to a man of the cloth.
Imagine the uproar if Chris Moyles refered to Sir Trevor Macdonald as a Nigga on his radio show? I don't think there would be too many people impressed with that.

after 'it' happened charlie was saying she wasnt bothered and didnt feel it was meant in a racist way. even still other housemates carried on at her and were trying to convince her she deserved the punishment!
seriously though i'll say it again, any form of malicous abuse including racist abuse is tottally unacceptable, but this was no way an abusive comment, just a bad choice of word for the conversation.
IMO she should be let back in...
