What's your internet speed? |

its down to 1. your ISP and 2. the distance between you and the exchange, and the traffic between the exchange and your ISP.
its a rough guesstimate, but let me know what your actual throughput is at peak and off-peak times

Well in the small print it says up to 16mb or 8mb.
I'll do a speed test when the 16mb has been installed tomorrow and downgrade and see what happens.
400 mtrs away I am.

it says "up to" because it depends on many factors. if you are lucky to be close to an exchange, and that exchange isnt already over loaded with people, your throuput speed should be close to the actual DSL speed.
of course as most know if you do a speedtest at 8pm at night, you'll get a different throughput than you would at 7am, as there is a lot less traffic....

@batesie
How close is close? Less than 1km? or less than 500mtrs. I guess I live in a built up area so I shouldn't expect much what with me being surrounded by businesses.
I'll find out tomorrow anyway.
Who had the fastest connection anyway, was it masseur?

work: 24Mb throughput
Home: 6.5Mb throughput
which is plenty for 2xlaptops, 1xPC, 1xN95 and 1xPS2 on netplay all connected at once

Apparently the reason why we don't have 100mb internet here in the UK is because it would cause radio interference for one reason or another.
If someone would care to explain this further...
