@Sainty
That's the fakest W800i cover I've ever seen. And quite expensive too. I just got my fake blue one for less than a pound.

Sorry but I am confused as to what this thread is about. Why are you taking phones apart?

Yep, fixing faulty or tatty phones, selling them (hopefully) at a profit, using those funds to buy a better but faulty handset, fixing it, and so on until I'll hopefully have a P990i or something similar!

....or something similar. There might be some nice phone out in the next couple of months for you to work towards.
I think you should go for a K750i or one of its variants but as the other poster pointed out - anything with a faulty lens cover would be quite easy to fix.

Faulty lens covers would indeed be easy, and cheap to fix, should just need a replacement lens cover switch/ribbon, which are fairly cheap!
I'm keeping my eyes open to see what's about, look out for any K7's with faulty cameras!

@Sammy
Do you ever consider selling your finished phones boxed?
Do you look out for empty boxes or do you think they wouldn't make any difference to the selling price?

Not sure, don't think it would make a huge difference - perhaps I should try that with a couple of phones one day, be another kind of experiment!
I know boxes are fairly cheap, though sometimes the sellers put a bit on the postage.

I'm wondering about possibly going for an allure brown K800i as my target phone, always wanted a K800i and love the brown version, not sure yet, will see how the experiment goes!

I would wait to see what rumoured phones materialise this quarter, you might want to set your sights a bit higher.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I'm still waiting for that payment to clear! hopefully in the next 3-4 days.... damn these eCheques take ages to clear!
@goldenface - thanks for the link, but would be potentially expensive still as I'd have to source batteries and chargers for the phones as well as fix faults

Hooray! That eCheque has finally cleared! So I now have £50 for the next stage of my experiment now in my account.
Looking for my next phone now, anyone got anything?

Right, I have my next phone for the experiment. It's not the phone that Aware sent me (might keep that one myself for a while lol), but a K750i with a faulty ear speaker.
It cost £44.51 inc. postage, and I've already fixed it with a speaker unit from another faulty K750i. I'll add £5 for the replacement speaker, so it's just come in on budget at £49.51.
I'll hopefully be listing it tomorrow, it's a nice little phone which is boxed and unlocked so should hopefully make a nice little profit!
