@avantis, mine has the same calendar behaviour
these issues were present in the M600 but have since been fixed
I am now reliant on the P990 for the next few days as my TyTN is packed to go back for replacement but already I have had to power off twice this morning using the long power button hold as the phone just hung. all I am doing is listening to the radio and browsing at the same time! I do think its related to gprs/umts transitions though as I am on the train

@masseur
Thank you.
In your experience, if one reinstalls the same firmware is there a chance that this may improve / iron out some small problems? |

@Avantis
there is some kind of caching problem with UIQ3 to do with context sensitivity. Sometime in FO mode my Activity Menu is actually that from the FC mode!
No problems with adding shortcuts in any mode.
I can go to Calendar from the Activity Menu in FO mode (when it finally shows the right screen!)
I had a problem with some menus in the Messaging app the problem went away after a Master Reset from the service menu

@jah
Thank you.
Your problem seems to be smaller but still there.
It appears as though we will have to wait for the next FWU to iron these out.. |

after making my last post here the P990 again hung (Opera specifically).
This time I could not even get into task manager to end it so yet another restart.
I'm beginning to think I could have lived with the stick "back" key on the TyTN rather than this, how can I put it in technical terms?... crap!
I actually think its the combination of radio and gprs/umts switching because I didn't have so much trouble when I wasn't using the radio
after that last crash I switched back to M600 for browsing and had no problems for the rest of my train journey

The stupidest thing is that you have to go to the task manager to close a program. Why can't SE just have a small "X" at the top right corner also? Or have it beside the back arrow on thhe screen? |

I agree with masseur the problems with the P990 is a joke, I did have trouble with 3 TyTN keboard issues and they were all the latest serials at the time (630) but at least the thing was stable. I tried the use the music player and browse via opera last night and everything was okay left it on went to make a cup of tea checked the phone and it's off. The phone just blacks out I have to power it back on. The battery is fine as it is working perfect in my M600. I wish the phone was locking up so I know it is the program causing it to do it but I just don't know. It is getting to the point where I should have just stuck with the TyTN and waited for a replacement. The thing is I really like the p990. |

Looks like at least three of us here have had faulty keyboards (you, me & Avantis), which seems a very high rate of failure. Still waiting for my replacement so that I can continue my evaluation.

is there much external branding on the voda ones?
I'm just wondering if the keyboard issue comes from the work they do when they brand them?

I am prob missing something so i hope you will be able to help,
With flip closed, lets say you are on a phone call and you want to go to the calender, how do you do this? I know if you press more, then task manager calender might be one of the last opened programs and therefore you can access it, but what if it is not...?
Many thanks

I had 4 vodaphone units and 3 TyTN htc branded.
One of the vodaphone serials had a 626 serial number and worked 100% no buttons got stuck the only problem was the stylus kept falling out it was loose from day one and got worse.
The vodaphone branded is not that bad it has a small logo at the top and words vodaphone in the small area above the answer and end call area. I am thinking of calling up vodaphone in a few weeks to get a TyTN from then again and use their 14 days returns policy to get a perfect unit.
I tried different sources of all my TyTNs I bought 2 from expansys 1 from mobilefun and 1 from london, the shop in london let me demo all 6 units in store and they all had keyboard issues, the thing which was strange they was all different keys.
Back to the P990, Could you please check this.
Does any of use notice a loud Buzzing noise from the phone when I have the flip open, i can here it I just listened to it and it reminds me of my old lcd dell TFT 24 inc I use to have same buzzing noise close the flip and it goes strange anyone else have this issue?
I have just taken the flip of made a phone call and the phone is buzzing I can here it over the call.

Both I and sleepyhead (discussion over at my-symbian) have found improved performance and additional features (or features that were there but not be accessed) after either a reflash or Master Reset. So have a go (don't forget that back-up !)
