So will Honami have the same sort of metal frame is the Z Ultra? Plus, with the smaller display it will do even better than the Ultra on benchmarks.

I'd guess the display will still be 1080p so in terms of 'pushing pixels' (that phrase always makes me think of an 8-bit Princess Peach giving birth) it should be the same and have very similar benchmarks.
Also, from the spypics, the honami frame looks more like silver paint on plastic, but spypics are spypics and we know better than to take them for 100% accurate.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

This is about Xperia Z Ultra, but it tells us something about the Honami release date, I think.
If Xperia Z Ultra release date is end of September, this does not bode well with a release of Honami in September as well, so, same as for Xperia Z Ultra, France may have to wait between the announcement and release for Honami.
If I compare to Japan, Xperia Z Ultra could release End of August, and Honami mid-October, so one month and half later.
So I guess in France Honami would release by mid-November, but this is just an estimation.

Arc S was also quite popular, you still see people with these.
I use a Arc S at the moment, im waiting for official Homani specs to be released from Sony before I decide if I want to buy it.
Im really hoping the Homani's camera can handle taking pictures of fast moving sporting action in the dark, my Arc S really struggles with this.
It would also be nice if we could remove the pre installed junk app's without having to root the phone OR Sony gave us a junk free phone in the first place. |

those benchmark numbers are great, but what do you expect for a better processor? it just that this time sony is the one that released it on a device first. i guess that's new
@shotokan - Z Ultra and Honami will be aimed at different markets, so even if they release them around the same time, it won't be a big deal.

Have you seen the hands-on round-up? The firs hands-on review includes a display test and the contrast is just 652 and white level in max brightness is just 362cd/m2. It's so disappointing. |

@moogoo: I hope they release Honami as soon as possible after announcement, but I think that we better manage our expectations here, because of the time between Xperia Z Ultra announcement and release date is 3 months (July 4th to end of September for french market).

you guys again keep expectation flying high and gain more frustrating... as outcome may not same as your wishes.
remember what happens with Xperia T/TX and Xperia V last year... a few months different in some (even) major market. Hong Kong for example, they released TX first in October and V follows up in December.
This year, what "IF" some new direction, Z Ultra for Eastern markets first / (Honami) for Western markets first
that's will make senses as Western markets still not pick-up a trend of using very large screen for voice service (you'll see a lot comments in general smartphone forums think it too ridiculous) unlike some Eastern markets that's we could see more products like tablet with voice integration supported that avail. for sometime.

wow, now that's an interesting name for it.
How you've lived with an Arc S for this long I can only imagine, surly this upcoming flagship will do a far better job, the Arc's Camera HW wasn't exactly great.

shotokan, i don't think they'll take so long to release honami after announcement. i think they are just waiting for the right timing to announce it, but the device is most likely ready. but we'll see. as long as they have it out in time in their major target markets for the holiday season. especially if they are hoping to compete with apple and samsung, who are quick to market. they can't announce in september with them and then wait 3 months to release. they'd get killed.

Some of us just don't have enough money to buy new phone every 5 months.
i am with my galaxy s1 for almost 3 years now, waiting to buy the honami!
and yes the galaxy's s camera just suck. |

I've had the Arc S since March 2012.
Trying to take decent pictures in the dark of cycling sporting events the Arc S camera fall's down on - movement + darkness = not very good pictures no matter what settings you use with the camera.
IF the Homani camera is up to the job then i'd be tempted to upgrade, if it isn't then I wont bother with it.
I don't really want to buy a digital camera IF I can get a phone that can do the job instead.
