Why should there be free themes? Go to www.mobile9.com for the themes. Everyone knows this.

woot

Its fair go that everyone is craving the S700i. personally, i think the fone is great, and that Sony Ericcson are carving a new trend in the mobile fone business. Its funny, cos i had a customer come into my fone shop, and ask me to show his a camera, with a fone, and not a fone with a camera. Being a real smart arse kind of guy, i whipped out the S700i, in front of him, his jaw hit the floor, and he walked out of my shop with one of them in his bag. Now thats what you call S/E power.

However, while the S700, in all its greatness, is good, its going to have nothing when the new S/E k750 gets launched?? Simply becasue the camera on the k750 is 2 mega pixels, instead of 1.3, and the memory on it shits all over the S700. Not to mention that its half its size...

I bowed down to the S700i. i really did. but im glad i never bought one, cos it gives me the oppurtunity to have the k750 instead....

Yay for S/E. I have an on going war at my work at the moment. What is better people? Sony Ericcson, or Motorola?

The K700i, or the V620??

Woot out.

Get a synch stand and download the theme creator from the SE site and you can create all manner of themes, and the good thing about the Theme Creator is that it also allows you to add sounds to your theme. (I created a "I Know What You Did Last Summer" theme and the ringtone was a MP3 blood-curdling scream Quite funny).

Edit: I dont actually use the theme, I was trying out the theme creator software, honest.

I have one last question before you close it down.

What is the largest .mp3 file that the s700i can read and play? I have compressed a Podcast down to 26 megs, but for some reason it will not play. I am assuming that there must be a limit on the size that the s700i can read and then play. All other .mp3's and .mp4's play just fine.

Also, I think I have found the issue with the rebooting s700. I have been using a 128 meg card, but when I switched to a 32 meg, it seems to have stopped. My reasoning for this is that I have a brand new s700 after having the old one replaced because of the rebooting. I put the old 128 card in, and two days later, it starts the rebooting again. Took the 127 out, 32 megs in. No rebooting. Could be a firmware, read/write issue that causes the phone to act this way. Also, everything is on the MS. The memory in the phone is completely free of usage.

Same thing is happening to my S700i as well. Its fine with a 32mb card in but seems slow and reboots with a 128mb card in. Have just recently had it returned from the service center for this problem as well. They said its a software fault apparently.

@Rookwise,

I think it might also be that the s700i can not move data from the card to the phone as fast as it should. I have all my ringing tones and photos on the MS, so when the phone rings and it must select a ringing tone, and a photo to display, it might experience lag thus causing the crash/reboot. I will transfer my ringing tones and photos to the phone and use them there and use the 128 to see if it still crashes. Have you tried this before?

I tried it a few months ago with the old firmware installed and didn't put the ms in the phone. Still rebooted.
The problem is that it seems to be an intermittent fault as the rebooting doesn't all the time. If the phone was rebooting all the time then the fault finding would be easier.
The thing is, my K700i used to do it as well and that doesn't have a memory card port. My old P900 also had the reboot problem when I put a 128mb ms in. I tried it with a 32mb ms which worked a lot better but it would still reboot although not as often.

Will certainly give your idea a try now the software has been upgraded

@Rookwise,

Interesting. I have a k700i, and a z1010, and they work flawlessly. I love the k700i more I think because of less problems, but I am willing to give my s700i another chance. The z1010 seems rock solid in performance, but it does not work here in Finland as far as 3G is concerned. In fact they do not even sell it here. So, I gave it to my daughter. She is 10 and running around with a 3G phone. I am contemplating getting some 3G phone so that I can talk to her while she is Germany and I am here. Not a Nokia though.

Anyway, so far so good with the 128 meg card. All of the photos and ringing tones are on the phone directly with no reboots. Fingers crossed.

You gave you 10 year old a mobile phone
Its rare to see someone of that age with one where I live.
My D500 battery is nearly empty which means I'll be changing over to my S700 for a week. I swap over each week or it depends on what I'm doing
Will report any problems if they occur although I think you may have found a solution to the problem

I am debating wether to wait for the K750 or purchasing the S710a

I've heard that although the K750 is a 2.0 MP, the quality of the pics due to firmware will not be better than S710a or S700.

Is this true?

Crash I have everything on the phone and the 128 MS in slot. I was in a call, using an HBH-660 and boom. It rebooted. I guess it is the card. I think I will get my 64 MB card from my daughter. I know for a fact the 128 MS works great in the z1010, and I am sure that she will not mind having a bigger card so that she can take pictures and videos, and record things.

Here in Finland, it is quite common for kids to have phones. It is like a security thing. A phone can be tracked no matter what, as long as it is turned on. I really like my s700i but I guess the only way to get it to work is to switch MS cards to the smaller one.
