Unknown13x posted in the Xperia S forum that hayabusa and mint are same devices just that they have different screen sizes. Also Mint has LTE, Hayabusa does not.
So does it mean that the Mint will be Sony's "Galaxy Note" ?

Hayabusa should be powered by Snapdragon S4, not S3 like Xperia S which was proved by Nenamark test. The screen size logicaly should be 4.65 like ION or bigger. If Sony decide to ditch the transperant part Hayabusa may be not so much bigger than S.

I also think Mint will be GNote rival.

Sony merges Xperia mobile business into Vaio PC group
From today's Unwired.

And surprise surprise, they've appointed their own guy to run it, Kunimasa Suzuki. No sign of what happened to Nordberg.

To be honest, so far the direction Sony's been going in with their mobile division seems to be an improvement over SE's policy. For now, I trust them with any restructuring.

Plus, I'm a VAIO fan.

Bert Nordberg will take up a role at Vestas a wind energy firm going by reports.
In other news Sony Mobile is laying off jobs in International sites including Lund. Around 500 jobs will be cut with 149 of them in Lund. Might mean a slow near complete shift to Japan is in the pipeline in the distant future. Say, 5 years from now.

I feel sad about it, I think the Lund team's Android software talent has been good, they have really improved a lot. With this new direction Sony may have a problem keeping their best Android software guys, the best ones will probably head for the exit doors for new jobs.

No surprise, really.. Let's hope they(sony) don't mess things up too much. Bert really managed to turn SE around after the previous CEO. Thanks to Bert, SE joined the Android club, learned from their mistakes with the first generation and actually did a pretty good job with the 2011 Xperia line.

If Nokia decides to have a Ménage à trois with Android, I think Sony will lose a great deal of the Nordic market atleast.

EDIT: Aurelius, heard anything from your sony friend about the layoffs etc?

Only as a board member as far as I understand, nothing that will draw him away from S(E) for now. The jobs cut in Lund are only related to services (Sony wants to handle all that stuff), no important jobs have been lost. Kunimasa Suzuki will not be the CEO of S(E), he will have a broader roll in controlling all of Sonys mobile products (which is smart imo)

Could it be the unusually named Tapioca_DS? DS for dual(duo)-screen?

Seems the most likely currently known codename.

Either that or are they reregistering the trademark that Sony Ericsson made last year? Do these things need reregistering if not used within a year?
I have a dig bick
You read that wrong

So either the Hayabusa or Mint are going to have a 4.3 inch AMOLED screen.
