There's nothing in your phone that would use more than 200-300mb at a time. Every single phone
out there would be good with a max of 1,5-2gb.
There's absolutely no reason to have 3gb of RAM, no reason at all! If you think so, you are greatly mislead by the hardware-race.
There are people that tend to have dozens of applications open on their phone. You might not do that but some people do. Do you need 16 GB of RAM on your PC? It depends on how much of a multitasker you are and what applications you use. Photo/video editing, 3D modeling, gaming etc use quite a bit of RAM by themselves and processing power. More RAM, more CPU/GPU power etc is always better, it all comes down to what your needs are. |

I agree more RAM is better.
Life example:
I'm playing Jelly Defense, my hangouts rings so I pause the game. My hangouts conversation leads to me needing to open a Google Drive doc and forward some info via email. Do that, return to the hangouts, confirm it's done. Then go back to my game, oh no, I ran out of RAM doing the other things and the game restarts from the beginning.
Has happened to me before on previous handsets and will undoubtedly happen again with future games. More RAM would have meant my game stayed in the memory and I could have simply unpaused and carried on.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

not just more RAM, we also need faster RAM!

Yes, faster RAM and faster storage. Much like PCs benefit from SSDs so will Android, or any mobile OS for that matter. |

+1 This!!
I was playing GTA III on my phone yesterday when I got a few WhatsApps, thought I'd just play a bit more then reply as I was scared my phone would end the game. One of the people who WhatsApp'd me then called, I answered, after the call I checked the game and it was still paused where I was, I then went on to minimize it and reply to the messages, came back and game still hadn't closed.
The Note 3 is also rumored to have 3GB RAM:

In the case of both LG and Samsung, 3GB RAM will allow them to take their Multi-window Multitasking features even further, so yes, the more RAM and faster RAM the better!

I'm having 2GB of RAM in my phone today and I have reached its limit a couple of times.
Future games are more advanced and will require a big chunk of RAM. I don't expect it to exceed 1GB for one game as for now but we will eventually get there.

@Reeflotz:
Thanks for the link. I am a bit confused by the example chosen by the author. He should compare the noise in a 3MP native image against the noise in a 12MP image downsized to 3MP, not compare a 12MP image to a 3MP one. I was unaware of this effect, and do not understand why it would work, but it gives me a way of testing myself!
@cu015170:
Thank you I got your point. I thought Nokia was doing pixel binning, and was unaware of the loss of shapness, or "pureness", via pixel binning. So effectively what Nokia does is use a clever algorithm to reduce noise and you say Sony could do it as well. I would add that Sony starts from a different point: with the RX100 v2 tech, including BSI, they already use clever hardware to reduce noise and may not need to add a layer of software noise reduction.
Also, I just realised that Honami will get a much faster optical system that Nokia 808:
- Pixel pitch: Honami 1.7 micron, 808: 1.4 micron, so Honami has +47% of Pixel surface, so half a stop is gained here.
- Apperture: Honami F2, 808: F2.4, so about half a stop is gained here as well.
So approximately, there is about one stop gain in Honami compared to 808!!
Did I get something wrong?
I can't wait to see this beast!

Not only that, Back Illuminated surface gives it at least a 30% increase in light sensitivity over front illumination of the 808. so in theory, Honami's sensor should provide roughly 1 1/3 stop advantage, if we translate it on real life scenario, an ISO 3200 image from Honami would looks like ISO 1600 from the 808 with oversampling disabled of course

I am wondering what improvement Nokio EOS brings to the 808. If it is marginal improvements then the Honami may simply beat it on sensitivity and noise.
I am comparing technically. In terms of sales, Nokia does not stand a chance because it runs microsoft windows for mobile phones, which should generate less sales than Honami, even if Sony is not present in the US and relies on Europe, Middle East and Asia only.

The RAM ending doesn't happen! We need faster RAM not more RAM, that's not true! We also need an optimized kernel that uses the RAM more efficiently instead of just believing that more RAM than 2GB actually is needed.
Give me a screen dump of when you've maxed out your 2GB of RAM.
yeah . . . That's true!!!
Than 4gb would be even better, no ? 8gb. . . 16gb. . . 32gb. . . And so on !!!
I just can't understand this moaning over more and more ram!!! |

It's actually rumored to be slightly worse than P808 due to the fact that it's difficult to get the software part exactly as good with WP8 as compared to Symbian. |

^Lol Ramu, serious?
I just wish Honami will be outstanding, it will outshine the competition.
I do not wish failure to Nokia, but guys wake up, you are responsible for what is hapenning to you! All you have to do is to choose a better selling OS...
Edit: a better selling os, better os is relative to taste
